Default guatamala or costa rica?

if you had to choose one of those ports, which would you choose? guatamala or costa rica? i'm researching for a panama canal full and am interested in both but most lines don't do both.
i am picking between X, hal and princess.
thanks for any and all input!

Depends on your interests. I liked the both and they are both very different ports. Why don't you look at the excursions for each port, that might help you decide.

Antigua was the most amazing city I have been to.....I have been mostly all over the world and it was an amazing piece of history....I loved it. Costa Rica is very different.....and I certainly enjoyed it also, but Antigua was special....

If you can't find a cruise with both I would say Guatemala.

Went to both on my last cruise, but I liked Guatemala better. Laughinghusky is right - Antigua is a great town and I want to go back there for longer. I liked Costa Rica too, esp. the mangrove swamp, crocs, and tropical rain forest. Try to go to both!

I just have to repeat some of what's already been said. I went to both Costa Rica and Guatemala on my cruise last February. Certainly, I enjoyed both ports, but my vote is for Guatemala. Antigua was very special. Perhaps I just chose the wrong excursion in Costa Rica, but I still enjoyed my time in Guatemala better.

Just to advise- Guatemala is NOT on the Fall(Sep) 2010 to Winter(Apr) 2011 Panama Schedules with Princess. But if you want to do both look at this winter (Jan-Mar)2010 10 day Full Transit FLL or ACA

We were lucky enough to catch both Guatemala and Costa Rica on our Island Princess ACA/FLL passage.

We were torn between choosing Antigua-on-your-own or the trip to Lake Atitlan in Guatamala both were supposed to be wonderful and worth the money.

Antigua was chosen and well worth the trip - would go again.

Now we are going back and chose Lake Atitlan. We just saw a cable program on it and it, too, looks well worth the trip.

We are going to Costa Rica also but have been 4 times now so we aren't doing much but I would suggest doing a tour. It is so scenic.

We are on the Pacfic Princess World Cruise and you can do the 1st segment that does go to both ending in Los Angeles.
