Hello,
I'm a late 30's female traveling with an extended family group, and wondering if the Celebrity Constellation will be mostly family oriented, and couples for Christmas and New Year's Eve. Oh, I'm going to have a great time with my family members either way, but it might be nice to hold out hope of a dance partner ;-) If anyone has been in a similar situation on a holiday cruise, it might be interesting to hear what you experienced. Thanks in advance! SarahVFan Last edited by SarahVFan; November 4th, 2009 at 12:57 AM. Reason: Clarifying title |

Sorry, no experience with Celebrity. My experience with holiday cruises- very crowded, lots of children, not at all a good experience.
For a single female, Cunard (Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria) provides dance hosts on all its sailings (although the hosts' dancing competence has been frequently criticized). I personally travel with Costa now- outstanding dance facilites, although no hosts. Those are the only two lines I can recommend. I just finished a trip with Holland America- I was traveling with a dance group, otherwise dancing was abysmal. |

Hi Sarah V,
Peter and I have done 4 or 5 Christmas cruises. It is very family oriented, but the dance clubs on board are very good and a much younger crowd. Peter and I have danced together with no concerns. I have seen many attached and unattached women on cruises. I always look to the positive and feel that any great thing can happen for you on this cruise! Jim ![]() p.s Peter is a great dancer, but I'm so so...but he brings out the best in others when dancing! |

Thanks for the good vibe. I'll take it.
My hope is to run into someone to dance with of either gender, as 14 nights of dinner and off to bed would get a bit old The family members I'm traveling with are of all ages, but NONE are likely to spend the evening with me dancing and listening to music. I don't do casinos very much, and the shows are OK, but end awfully early.Let's hope that we get the Christmas thing, and the party thing all going over these two weeks. Appreciate your comments. Hi Sarah.... I am also a dancer and always looking for dancers on cruises. So far, I've always found someone to dance with on my cruises. I am a ballroom/latin/freestyle dancer and will dance with anyone who wants to dance male or female. I cruise frequently. Sometimes with my dance buddy and sometimes with my life partner(we r both male). There are times that I get turned down by ladies who I thought would like to dance as they are swaying and tapping their feet but when asked to dance turns me down. It does not deter me from asking other ladies however. There were also occassions where me and my dancing buddy gets turned down the first night by ladies that don't have a clue if we can dance. Frustrated by being turned down many times, we have decided to dance together alternating the lead and follow routine and most always gets approached to dance with ladies who witnessed our dancing capabilities the next nights and found new dancing friends the rest of the cruise.
Me and my partner are cruising during the holidays on HAL-Amsterdam. I am hoping to find some ladies to dance with. Since my partner does not dance, I will be out exploring the dance lounges by myself. No matter what, I will be dancing either with the crew or passengers. First night I usually just observe and feel the atmosphere. Also, I find going to the dance lessons provided by the ship is where you can find some dancers. Try and attend the first lesson and don't be shy to ask the dancers which lounge they go for dancing. There you go........ my 2 cents. Larry |

Larry,
Thanks for your response. You and your partner enjoy your trip! Same sex couples dancing...well, I am a girl who likes girls, actually, and although I'll dance with any partner, I'd like to think that nobody will give us the evil eye if I find a female single to dance with on Constellation's 12/20 cruise Thanks for your response, and I see that several postings in the last few days have been about holiday sailings. I'll keep my fingers crossed. SarahVFan |

Nobody should give anybody the evil eye over dancing!
A few years ago, on a Royal Caribbean cruise, my daughter, her stepsister-in-law and I all went out on the floor together to dance. My son-in-law does not dance, and there were no men to ask to dance, and the music was great! So, we danced through several songs, and the crowd watching survived without fainting or anything. I hope you enjoy the cruise and the dancing!

Sounds good to me. Thanks. Time is getting short enough that I'm actually starting to get a bit excited...about one week from being a month away ;-) We sail on the 20th.
I've been on the sister ships of the Constellation, and there is a nice dance floor with a two story "atrium" bar to watch the dances. I have NO idea what music to expect. SarahVFan |

If fun1too is traveling with a life partner and a dancing buddy, I wouldn't rate him as either single or solo. As a straight single, I very rarely have any women willing to dance with me- and if you check other threads, other guys say the same thing.
Good luck on HAL. I was on the Oosterdam in October- what a disaster. There were single women on board, but none of them ever were in the lounge after dinner, and the ship pretty much shut down at 10 PM. Last edited by Dancer Bob; November 25th, 2009 at 04:51 PM. |
