Default Name of Taxi company for Venice?

we will be arriving in Venice by ship in mid April next year. We will need to get a taxi to take us from the Cruise Ship terminal to the Piazzale Roma where we will rent a car to drive home. Does anyone have the name of a reliable taxi company that I could call to order a taxi to meet us?

Any airport taxi will do; you don't need to prebook in advance. Trip is short (20 - 25 min). Also airport bus (that can store baggage) will take you to Piazzale Roma for 3 euro pp. Bus is right across the taxi stand.

We aren't going ot the airport. we need just to get ourselves and our suitcases to the Piazzale Roma, where the Hertz office is. We live in Switzerland and are renting a car and driving home...

So if anyone has any info about a reliable taxi company where I can pre-book, I would be grateful!

Pre booking a taxi from the cruise port would be very unusual. You are talking about a 3 min drive from the cruise terminal to the Piazale Roma ( we walk it in about 15 min). There are usually some taxis outside the cruise terminal and they will take you for as little as 5 Euros per passenger.

Well maybe I can walk over to Hertz and leave my husband with the luggage and then go back and get him! Or as it happens we will be docked all the day before we disembark so maybe I can sort out a taci then. I speak Italain, which helps.
