Default Couple of questions: Considering going on Gem in Dec NY/Bahamas

Hello, I just found out I have a week of in Dec and was considering going alone on the Gem from NYC as I have always gone on RCCL and wanted to try something new and avoid airports and potential delays.

Does Norwegian ever waive the single supplement?

In addition for those of you that have gone on this ship, does the fact that it is not in warm weather detract from your enjoyment? The ports look interesting to me, especially Port Canveral.

Thanks

Hi Howard,

I do not know about the single supplement charge being waived, but I can tell you the weather is much warmer after being on the ship for one day compared to staying here in New York.

We have done this itinerary a few times and enjoy it enough to do it again.

We are sailing for New Years Eve.

Hope you enjoy your cruise.

Dawn

Howard....Pixiedustdaw is right about the weather. We cruised out of NYC at the end of Jan on our last cruise. It was snowing....yet " one day out" it was very warm. I think you will be fine unless there is some freak weather front that happens....it does sometimes but very rarely is it cold as the ship sails south.

Can't help you on the suppliment fee.

Enjoy your trip if you decide to go....we are going on the Gem in Jan and from what I hear she is a wonderful ship.

We went on a cruise to Canada last month where it was in the mid-30's one day. The pools are heated so we still had a great time swimming and relaxing in the hot tubs. No chair hogs. ;-)

We went out of NYC on the Dawn in Dec 05 and loved it so much we did the same itinerary in Dec 06. Those trips went to the Caribbean however, and were wonderful. The weather does warm up quickly. By the first morning at sea it was so much nicer than home and all it did all day was get warmer! We were lucky, when we got back to NYC it was in the 50's. I would do another trip out of NYC in a heartbeat.
