Default Seattle airport luggage transfer to ship

We're planning a May HAL round-trip from Seattle, and plan to book our own airfare rather than take the cruise lines air because it's much cheaper. We also plan to take a cab to the pier because it would be cheaper than HAL's transfer for 4 of us. (Any problems getting a cab for 4 people?)

Two years ago we also did a similar cruise and used HAL's air and transfer. I remember that in the baggage claim area, various cruise lines including HAL, had luggage drop offs where you could leave your luggage and not haul it around, and it would show up in your stateroom later in the day. Does anyone know whether this airport luggage transfer is limited to those with HAL air and transfers, or can anyone on that cruise use it?

Thanks.....

In SEATAC go to the taxi stand. They called forward a mini van taxi for the 4 of us and our luggage.

No idea how the cruiselines luggage service would work. The people on the HAL board will let you know.

If you can try arrange your flight to arrive a day ahead of embarkation.

Do not count on the use of a mini-van taxi in Seattle. They are reserved for the physically challenged only and must be reserved in advance for those with the proper local permits. They will OCCASIONALLY allow others to use them if they have a brief break of down time from their normal scheduled runs, but you cannot count on this. Normal taxis will not hold four adults.

Consider using Shuttle Express:
http://www.shuttleexpress.com/index.html

shared ride, but if you're 4, that's half the van, so you shouldn't have too long of a wait, plus you get to see a little more of Seattle.

You'll also be out of Smith Cove/Terminal 91, a BEAUTIFUL terminal, that just completed it's first year of operations.

Also, the luggage drop is reserved for those who are utilizing HAL transfers, however you might be able to sweet talk HAL staff (who wear bright red in the airport) day of to see if they'd take your bags for you.

Default Seatac to Pier Transportation

I came across the following link:

http://www.portseattle.org/seatac/ground/taxi.shtml

It sounds as if you can just walk up and get a van or SUV without a reservation. Is this correct?

Inside Scoop--you're in Southern California? We live in north San Diego County! Today it's raining for the first time in about 7 months!

The taxi company's have them, however, they're few and far between so you might end up waiting quite some time for them.

However, if I remember correctly the flat rate for a taxi is $35 to the pier, and $40 for a sedan. The sedan will easily fit 4, just depends on the luggage. (Granted this is me trying to remember this from 2007.)

Yep! Southern California, a recent transplant, accepted a great job, and LOVE living here. Granted, I lived in Seattle for about 18 years; and I miss the rain. Still haven't seen a drop yet! (Have only lived here since June.)

Is there a shuttle that we can get at the airport without a reservation? When we flew to New Orleans they had a shuttle service that you could walk up to by the baggage claim area and make arrangements to go to your hotel. They would also make round trip reservations for when you needed to go back to the airport. Do they have that in Seattle?
