Default Lost and Found After the Cruise???

Has anyone discovered that they left something they bought on the ship after they got home? We just got off the Ruby and are still in the process of un-packing. I'm sure I left a shirt in the bag that I just purchased at the "outlet" sale, in the International Cafe'. We stopped to get a coffee there, and sat to drink it, it's the only place it could be.

What's the procedure?

Thanks!

You could call and ask for "lost & found" to let them know.

However, the chances of it being there are pretty slim...especially if you left it in a public place where anyone could have picked it up.

Sorry for you....that must be disappointing....

Default Lost and Found

The same thing happened to us on our Emerald cruise last month. We were repacking a bag at the airport and discovered that my partner's curling iron that we had purchased at Walgreen's the night before the cruise was missing.

I called the toll free number to Princess from the airport and the person I spoke to said she would send me the claim form by email which I received the same day and once completed, needed to be faxed back to them. I was told that if the property was found it would be sent to my residence (within 4 to 6 weeks) via courier at my expense and since the item only cost $14.99, I'm not sure it's worth the hassle . . but at least there is a process for recovering lost or forgotten items.

A couple of years ago DH lost his money clip, the one I gave him for our wedding anniversary with the date engraved on it. He thought he might of knocked it off the night stand accidentally so we called, received the form and filled it out. We never heard back so I guess it was never found.

Now, he just keeps his stuff in a rubber band!!!! (Just kidding)

I agree don't count on anything being returned. We have had the same experience and not even a response.

hmm, sad, I especially would turn something in if I found it on the ship. Luckly, the item that I lost was only $7.00, and only for me and not a gift for someone.

Thanks for your opinions, maybe I'll try anyway, and we'll be surprised!

I left a small ivory cribbage board behind. Went through all the lost and found channels and never got it back. It was left in a drawer. Not knowing if stewards actually check drawers after passengers disembark and before the embarking passengers arrive, it's hard to ascertain whether the steward just didn't turn it over to lost and found or if embarking passengers decided to keep it. Needless to say, we now check every drawer and nook and cranny to be sure we leave nothing behind.

I left a pair off shoes on a cruise--notified the cruiseline the same day, made multiple, frequent contacts as I was passed around from pillar to post to get to the right person. Eventually, a supervisor admitted that the issue had been mishandled, and I was reimbursed for the shoes.

Do check the drawers and the closets carefully. My son the hotel manager says things do get left and employees do turn the items in (this is a fireable offense to take left items and they do do sting type operations). Far more common is for people to leave things and never inquire back. There are more than 350 phone chargers, laptop chords/batteries, and docking stations in the drawer just to mention a few. Last year's cruise I found 3 different sets of earphones on the bus after shore excursions and yes I did turn them in-- they didn't fit my Walmart MP3 player But if I get an IPOD ---

Default Give the workers a break

You know the more I think about it why would a cabin steward risk taking an item of fairly low value left behind. Every person working in the passenger areas are known and held responsible for complaints in their area. If they get in trouble for a bad comment card, can you imagine what would happen if a "few" items were reported missing from their section? The risk would be too great for the benefit.

Last summer I called back asking a hotel to check for my brand new swimsuit. They went and searched. They went through 23 suits that were in lost and found and reported back that they did not find it. I KNEW that because it was in a plastic bag in my car trunk thus not there when I unpacked my suitcase!! OH MY!

Hope your items were just misplaced. If not replace quickly and move on so it doesn't spoil your cruise memories.

I didn't realize there was a difference between iPod and "generic" MP3 player headphone jacks. I thought (and still do believe) they're all the same size...

sorry your item was left behind, but because it was left in a public area ratherf tha your cabin, I think you're probably out of luck. A few cruises ago, we left some items in the cabin and when we inquired, they sent the forms to fill out and after a few weeks, they notified us that they did have the items and they were sent to us after we agreed to pay the shipping.

Supposedly, all the room steward turn in left behind articles to a central onboard point, and AFTER the following cruise, those items are forwarded to the central Princess headquarters for "storage." It's this storage locationh that is searched if you submit a missing item report. Be VERY specific in the description of the item(s) and where the loss occured (ship/voyage/location)!

Would I just call Princess and ask for "lost and found", or does each ship have their own phone number?

Talking 800-Princes

You are to call the 800 phone number in Valencia, California. "Lost & Found" is a part of Customer Assistance (the Help Desk).
A few employees handle all of the ships - no ship-specific phone number.

Default Found - men's neckties - Sapphire

In case anyone was on the Sapphire Nov 14 cruise in D410, we were in that cabin on the Nov 21 cruise and you left a leather case with men's neckties. I turned it in to our steward.
