Our cruise leaves from the port of miami, however we are noticing airfare is cheaper to fly in to ft lauderdale. Would this cause a problem. Does anyone know if you can do a transfer from ft lauderdale to the port of miami. How long is the drive from ft lauderdale to miami, we have a large group so not sure if a taxi or transfer would work better. Thanks for all help possible.

Many people fly into one airport and cruise from the other one.
A low price way to get between the airports is SAS Transport and their web site is http://ridesas.com I recommend flying in the day before the cruise no matter where you leave from. I would book a flight after 12:00 PM on the day you return to port. Keith |

I have done this numerous times. In fact, I think I've taken at least 4 cruises out of Miami, and flown into Ft. Lauderdale every time. The last time, it was for a RCL cruise and I used the RCL shuttle service. So you're not limited to using a taxi to get to the port if you fly into Ft. Lauderdale rather than Miami. It's about an hour drive from the airport to port of Miami.

If you have a large group, look into SAS or Florida Limo and hiring a van or private car. This should be cheaper than both a shared-ride option (which is per person) and definitely cheaper than cruiseline transfers (which tend to be about the most expensive, least flexible option).

I just booked my flights for my Carnival Glory Cruise out of Miami.
I'm flying into Ft Lauderdale the day before the cruise, using SAS to get to Miami and then flying back from Miami. I did 2 1 way tickets...came out MUCH cheaper than a roundtrip to/from either airport. Just something else you can think about

Make sure the savings warrant the extra trip. For us it saved us over 700.00 and we each paid 33.00 pp round trip for a stretch limo.
so yes. it was quite doable. are you looking at flights the same day as a cruise?

From FLL to Miami is about 20-25 minutes, we have used Larry's Limos for years and they are always reasonable and prompt - Good luck

when we sailed from Miami we flew into FLL. We were going to stay overnight pre cruise anyways so that cost stayed the same. We did pay for a ride from the hotel to the port in the am...cant remember the cost exactly but it was less than $50...but saved around $200 by going into FLL...easy choice for us

Flew into FLL from BUF the night before. Got a hotel shuttle to our hotel in Fort Lauderdale. Picked up by SAS at noon the next day, and was deliverd to the port of Miami. $ 15 per person for two. Picked us up at the end of cruise and brought us right back to FLL. Quite resonable we thought. This was last Feb.
