Default Money Orders

Can you cash in Money Orders on a Carnival Cruise ship. I olan on bringing about a grand to pay for our non Carnival tours and other non Sign and Sail Expenditures. Now I really don't feel like carrying that much cash on me... If I were to get 5 200 dollar Money Orders, would I be able to cash them in for cash on board ship?

Thanks.

I think traveler's checks would be much easier!

Not sure about money orders, but travelers checks can be cashed at the Pursers Desk.

Yeah, I think traveler's checks would be a better idea. I have taken close to $1,000 in cash with no problems. There is a safe in the cabin.

Probably travelers checks would be a better idea. Money orders can be "iffy".

I always travel with cash. I set up my onboard account with it and use it ashore and in the casino. Never had a problem. There is a safe in the room to stash your valuables. I only take out what I'll need at the moment and leave the rest there. The only ones with access to that safe besides you is security and they would only access your safe in case of emergency or if you couldn't open it for some reason.

Nope...

From the Carnival FAQs...

Can Traveler's Checks be cashed on board?Traveler's Checks can be cashed on board at the Guest Services Desk. Since Traveler's Checks are considered as cash, there is no fee for this check cashing service, but there is a $1,000 per day limit, to the dollar amount cashed.
Canadian Traveler's Checks can be cashed on board at the Guest Services Desk at the current exchange rate.

We do not accept bank issued cashier's checks or money orders on board.

If you elect to use Traveler's Checks don't fill them out 'til you're at the Purser's Desk as there have been some problems with Purser's refusing to cash TCs that have had the name already filled in...
