Default Do you think you really need a Balcony?

I have a balcony booked for May and the difference in price is 800.00 from an inside to a balcony (which could be a good deposit for another cruise) QUESTION - do you think the ship is so big w/ many things to do that you don't need a balcony, I like to use my money wisely but I have never had a balcony? Any advice??? THANKS

A balcony is great. Gives you a place of your "own". However, on the Oasis I feel I won't be near my cabin much, just to change and sleep. Skipping the balcony this time too and going with an oceanview instead. I would also consider an inside (never had one) if the savings were great. I would go with the cheaper cabin if you are not one to hang in your cabin much.

I always have a balcony, its an extension of your room giving you a little more space. Its a;so a great place for us to relax when we retreat to the room. This is the place were we soak up the ocean if you will, and one complaint about the Oasis is that people dont feel there is enough outside space and loose the feel of being on a cruise.Having breakfast on your balcony or a glass of wine later in the day can help with that.If you are a smoker you will need an outside balcony as you can not smoke in the rooms.Just our opinion.

The longer the cruise, the more a balcony helps to give you extra space. Also I love being able to sit out there alone and admire the ocean view and the stars at night.

We like to book junior suites, but booked a regular balcony on Oasis because we figure we will be doing so much on the ship that the luxury of a JS would be kind of wasted. Also the extra cost for the JS seems a tad rich for us when we want to try all the premium restaurants too. So we made the decision to choose a regular balcony and put the JS extra cost to better use.

One person here asked if booking an inside cabin would be worth it just to get on Oasis. I really don't like inside cabins but confess that if that was the only way I could get on Oasis, I would definitely do it. I believe Oasis is the ONLY ship I would make such a concession for.

I agree with you. I find that I spend most of my time out of my room. However, a balacony is nice and if I got a good upsell offer I might go for it on a longer cruise.

on this particular ship, a balcony or at least an outside is desirable as much of the ship's public areas have no windows and very limited views of the sea. Unless you would enjoy being cut off from the outside (except for by the pool) I would get a balcony, it might be your only connection to actually being on a ship

We get a balcony, my DH needs the space. He feels to closed in, even in an oceanview, which we have had in the past. I must admit I am not sure if I would feel OK, I get motion sickness and by looking out over the horizon it helps, along with meds...lol! Many would agree, once you have a balcony its hard to go back , no matter what the size of the ship is! But its all in what is best for you and your budget, we know we have to save for that extra. Hope this helps!

I agree with you! We have just returned from a 2-day PI and, had it not been for the balcony, we hardly would have seen the ocean except in glimpses.

I would rather take an inside and use the $800 to book another cruise.

For me I would want a balcony but I guess you have to ask yourself how much you will be in the cabin. If your plan is to stay out and about, then I would go with the inside.

It's sort of a tough question that for me is answered by my wife. She's slightly claustrophobic and can't do an inside cabin. We have sailed in outside staterooms and they're fine but, we really prefer the balcony. I enjoy going out on the balcony and just watching the ocean slide by.

Of course on Oasis we're going to have to settle for people watching. We've booked a Central Park balcony for this cruise. It was something new we wanted to try. I'm not sure if we'll enjoy it or not but we thought we'd do something different on this cruise.
