Default Can you use USA Stamps to mail a post card from Jamaica or Grand Cayman?

Or do I need to buy stamps when I get there to mail post cards with? I want to send some post cards and I want them post marked from the Island we will be at....Thanks!

Nope... when you purchased those stamps you paid the US Postal Service to perform a service. I doubt that they would reimburse the Cayman or Jamaica for the cost of the stamps.

You'll need to purchase postage on those islands...

Where would the best place to go with limited time in the port be to find these stamps?

Check with the purser's desk on the ship, they usually sell stamps for the ports of call.

It depends on the place. Some are more expensive than others but they sell them as they are marked. Just make sure you have cash because you can't use your S&S card. They also have a bin where you can put your cards to mail them, but make sure you get them in early because they will take them over to the port throughout the day and if you don't get them in early enough, they will end up waiting for the next time the ship is there. The gift shop also sells postcards for the ports of call so you can do them early.

If you put U.S. stamps on, they will wait and mail them from your embarkation port.

Keep in mind that you will be home for about two to three weeks before anyone receives the post cards...

Many of the stores who sell postcards also sell postage. Be prepared to pay a little more than U.S. and know that the postcards may not show up for weeks after your return...if at all.

Ain't that the truth? I still waiting on one from Nassau from our August cruise. I don't think it's coming

Do you think that you could mail a postcard from the US to Jamaica or to other country using a foreign stamp?

You sure did not think very much before posting that message.

I seem to recall that the Grand Cayman post office is pretty close to the tender port. About 2 blocks back!

I would go to Hell and mail them from Grand Cayman. When else can you get a postmark from Hell.

I send my dgs one from every port. I get the cards in the port then as soon as I get back to the ship I buy the stamp from the pursers desk. They are then postmarked from that port. He likes that and the stamps.

Sometime the stamps are cheaper then here in the states, sometime the same or a little more. It is worth it though. Most of the time I am home before he gets them but that's okay, he does look forward to them.

Very much the truth, we gave up hope on ours about 2 months after our cruise...then about a week and a half later they showed up. Its been a year and we still havent gotten one of them, I highly doubt that one ever shows up now. I mail one from both the ship and the port, sometimes you get them, sometimes you dont. I always buy an extra copy and stamp too just to have in case. At least the postcard and stamp dont usually cost more than a dollar or so combined so you're not out much, thats why I always get the extra!

Ive never tried to ship a package home from any of the islands? Has anyone had any success or lackthereof with this?

Happy sailing!
