Default I don't think the Puerto Ricans agree

How dare Carnival let those foreigners on OUR ship! I don't care if it sails from San Juan! It's OUR ship and we don't speak Spanish and THOSE PEOPLE shouldn't be allowed.

Please, I wish all the bigots and racists would just stay in the states and never leave their little enclaves.

I absolutely LOVE San Juan. I love Puerto Rico. I love Puerto Ricans!

I would sail Victory every month if I could. One of the neatest things I've ever seen was two couples at a table next to us near the aft pool. They were seemlessly speaking both English and Spanish to each other. True bilinguals. But 'we' go to San Juan to sail and can't even be bothered to say Hello, Please, and Thank You in Spanish to the natives. Sheesh. And we wonder why some people in other countries don't fall down at our feet to thank us for being there.
You are so funny! I don't think the Puerto Ricans want everyone to stay in their little enclaves. Get real, all opinions are equal. And most will defind your and our own right to opionions to the death.

On our last cruise we had two people in our group who are handicapped. Everytime we needed an elevator people raced us to the door and sometimes it took 15 minutes to go up one floor. I've never seen so many lazy people in my life. People who are healthy should wait for one or take the steps if it's only a couple floors. Alot of them could use the exercise anyway. When I'm alone I always take the steps because it's usually faster anyway.

My last cruise out of San Juan was 4 years ago and prior to getting on the ship, I stayed in a small family run hotel and the Lady that ran the hotel and I hung out together on Christmas morning while she made a traditional Christmas Dinner (and I drank her home made egg nog?) for her family. She even invited us to join (which we gracefully declined because we did not want to interrupt her family Christmas traditions) her family for Christmas dinner.
This is why I was concerened about broaching this subject, I have had great experiences with all Nationalities, so I don't know what it was I, and others on the ship had mentioned they were experiencing, was happening.
Like someone mentioned, it is the times we live in, which is really sad! I was brought up the please and thank way and to offer the eldery and ladies the last seat or open the door for them, not push them out of the way so to get to the front of the line or to get the last seat.
By the way, we enjoyed the heck out of the cruise. There was no way I would let anyone or anything ruin 85-87 degrees and sunshine and beautiful white beaches!

Yes, I have seen that sort of thing too. I remember boarding the flight to my last cruise. You know how it is, people are lined up behind you, so you are supposed to toss your luggage in the overhead and get in you seat pronto. You can re-visit other pre-flight things after people have boarded.

Well, this girl in front of me is standing in the aisle in front of her seat trying to figure out who knows what, and all these people are waiting and waiting. That's just so rude, but people can be totally clueless. I think other people are just downright stupid.

Now that I have learned that we get our on board liquor the night before debarkation, I will just sit and sip until the ship empties out of those rude people.
Couldn't agree with you more. It amazes me how so many people are in such a rush to get off the ship and have no patience or manners that last morning. The last thing we want to do is rush back to the rat race of every day life after a relaxing wonderful cruise. The best thing we ever did was to start either booking our flights out for that evening OR better yet, wait for a day or two to fly home.

I am a very patient easy going person, but someone asked on a previous thread if anyone else noticed people getting more impatient as the week goes on, I can answer yes, I was one of them that was wanting to scream right back at the screaming kids, or not get out of anyone's way when I was on my side of the aisle, or to say excuse me or thank you by the 4th day.
I have cruised Carnival several times in the past, including 3 previous times out of San Juan without noticing this behavior, so....what has changed, the port or the cruise line?
PORT ~~!!~~The same type of behavior has been reported on constantly for well over 5 years for cruises home ported in San Juan....
Facts are facts, and I am NOT trying to be uppity-uppity, but when Carnival sells ALL the empty cabins in the last couple of weeks, it is mostly island people who scarf up the bargains, and the rude behavior is more a class issue with the bargain hunters who fill up the ship in off season....

During peak season when Carnival does not need to fill the ship on bargain basement/cut rate pricing then seems to be an entirely different cruising experience....
