Thumbs down Mexico itinerary

Im thinking of going on a Mexico itinerary for the first time. Has anyone ever been to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas. If so did you enjoy these ports?

Why the thumbs down? All are nice, albeit different than any Carib. port. What do you want to know?

Smile Mexico

We've done the Mexican Riviera 10 times, 4 times this year. And we're doing a back to back on the Splendor in Jan. We love Mexico! We've done a few tours but we mostly just like to walk around, have lunch and enjoy the sights.

LOL sorry the thumbs down was a mistake i meant to hit the icon below it. I guess some of the things that i want to know is what are some good excursions, is it hard getting around, Is there anything that stands out at any of the ports thats just a must do.

AH OK. There are already some good points mentioned here. I will throw out a couple.

Cabo - small town, lot's of shops and a great party place. If you are going on the Splendor it is a fairly short stay. It happens to be my fav of the stops, because it so Mexico.

PV - great port, one time did a Dolphin encounter, one of the best excursions i ever did. Main drag is fun and entertaining.

Mazatlan - big city, you dock a true shipping pier. The Gold zone is about a 10 min ride in a cab. Great beaches nice shopping.

It is different than the Carib. But different is not worse.

I did not find the beaches or clarity of the water like the Carib. cruises. More like Hawaii. Water is def cooler, sand a little rougher. I love Mexico, you will have a great time. I also loved the Splendor. I say go for it.

Great tequila tour available in Mazatlan, if you are up for that! The Pacifico brewery is also there, and they have a tour.

Cabo is a party town. Wish we could have stayed longer!

You will love this itinerary.

I agree with the Cabo comments, we wanted to stay longer as well!

Love this itinerary! PV - there is a 4x4 tour that you can do - all day trip but well worth it. Or you can catch a cab downtown and find some small out of the way places to have an adult beverage. PV is what you make of it. Maz is OK - but you need a tour or catch a cab (done both) to really see anything. Cabo...... Newport Beach of Mexico - but that's not a bad thing. Make sure you go over to the Giggling Marlin, hang upside down and have a shot. Great cruise!

I must be missing something with Cabo..I don't get the place at all. I have been on several cruises to Mexico and of the 3 ports..It is my least favorite. Other then the bars in town...Not much else to see besides the rock formations and sea lions. The zipline tour was a bit drespessing compared to PV's. The shopping in Cabo was also WAY more expensive then the other two ports.
Mazatlan offers some great shopping and nice beaches.
PV in my opinion has more to offer. The above mentioned zipline tour is great as well as the swim with the dolphins. The shopping and strolling along the Malecon with its cobelstone streets and statues is always fun. While the beaches can get some heavy surf they are still nice. Just say no to the vendors if you aren't interested and I still can't bring myself to purchase with their shrimp on a stick!
Quick couple notes on shopping in Mexico...If silver is your thing make sure it is stamped .925 on the back. It is required for the good stuff. You can also get really good Mexican vanilla extract! I always purchase mine in the supermarkets..Best pricing and quality.
