Default Rainforest Trailhead GPS Coordinates

Does anyone have GPS coordinates for all of the rainforest trailheads that they could share for an upcoming visit? I'm particularly intersted in La Coca, Trade Winds, La Mina, Big Tree, Bano De Oro, Mount Britton, Caimatillo, Juan Diego and Angelito trails.

I could also use some GPS coordinate help for the Pinones area. Last time I was there I just couldn't seem to find the boarwalk.mangrove area.

We can work on that for you... it is something we should have on our guide.
When is your trip?

Default March 2010

The trip isn't unitl March 2010 so there is plenty of time. You guys are really awesome. I have used your sight for much of the planning including the Rainforest, Vieques BioBay and chartered boat out of Fajardo to name a few. GPS for thsoe trailheads woudl be great...last time I was there I found them but it always seemed like I had to keep doing U-turns to zero in on the actual trail head.

Ok- that gives us plenty of time, though we will probably be able to do it shortly. I will let you know when we have them and have updated our "rainforest 101" article.

I am glad you like our site. And thanks for the help with what would make it better!

Default BizZare Foods

Did you see the recent Bizare Foods with Andrew Zimmerman (sp?)? Lots of cool food places to visit. I don't recall all of them right now but I do recall it include Pinones, the "Pig Road" (where I will be going for sure) and some place that you have to take a 4 wheel jeep type vehicle to get to on top of a mountain (known only to locals).

Yes, nice show (though not too bizarre.). We taped it. We have been to almost all the places he went except the mountain top one and the fish empanadilla place in Aricebo (though we may hit that place soon).

Default Tiny Fish Empanada

It all looked great but I'm not sure about those little tiny fish they put in the Empnadas though. They would probably taste great but they sure look weird.

Another thought. I am putting together a list of all of the geocaches in PR (I have 333 right now) in the .gpx file format which Garmin GPS devices use to import Custom Points of Interest. I've put 1,000 of these on my own GPS surrounding my primary and lake homes and it works great. If you all are interested I'd be happy to shoot that file to you when I complete it. Not sure if you get many geocachers on your site but it may help drive some more eyeballs to you. Might be able to get some links to/from the geochace sites...I use geocaching.com myself.

I just found out about geocaching recently. The guy we went to Culebra with a few weeks ago was searching for one (he couldn't find it). There are some here in El Yunque... sounds like a new article!
Can you send me your list of PR geocaches to our contact info on our site?
Thanks!

We discovered Geocaching last Spring and love it! It would be great to have all the trailhead coordinates and coordinates for interesting sites like rope swings, waterfalls, etc. plus all the geocahches. I'd love to bring some travel bugs down the next time I come and place them in caches in El Yunque. You guys will be doing everyone a great service and will make hiking there so much more fun and easy!

Ok, we went there this morning and got the GPS coordinates for the trail heads. Ray has posted them on the GPS coordinates link under the Eastern area.
