Default Hotel in Tampa night before cruise

We are driving to Tampa & plan on arriving the night before our cruise Christmas week. Can you suggest a nice hotel for us to stay at. We will only be sleeping & getting breakfast there.

Embassy Suites Downtown is nice. Free 2 hour Happy Hour reception every night & free breakfast, full omelet bar.
Good location, clean & quite rooms & close to the pier.

Use Priceline. You can probably get the Hyatt Regency downtown for $40-$50 per night. It's a bargain. Save your money for tropical drinks on the cruise! If you'd like to see what others have successfully bid on Priceline, go to: biddingfortravel dot com

Others that offer car parking, and shuttle to the port are:
LaQuinta on West Spruce Street
Hampton Inn, Tampa, Ybor CIty (Same as above, and VERY close to the port.)
Holiday Inn Express, Rocky Point (On the water near the airport)

Hope you have a great visit to Tampa, and a super cruise.

You need to visit the Florida Departures board for the info you need. This thread has the results of winning Priceline bids for Florida hotels. There are several very nice hotels in Tampa for under $65/night.

I just saw this was moved... sorry I did not realize there was other forums.

Do most people park at the port or at a hotel?

We pricelined Westin Harbour Island for $57 plus $15 taxes and fees(rooms ared selling for $229 on their site plus they want $15 a night for parking). The hotel is about a mile away from the terminal and about 2 blocks away from a city run garage. The city garage charges $9.50 per 24 hours. There is a tram that stops right at the garage and the terminal. It's $2.50 for the short ride.

What we plan on doing is to have a great day in Busch Gardens the day before (we have Florida resident yearly passes), drive to the hotel afterwards, Drop my SO and luggage of at the hotel, drive to the garage, park, walk back to the hotel, only about 2 blocks away. Enjoy the evening in Tampa. In the morning have a shuttle or a taxi (about $5 total) take us to the terminal. On our return, I plan to catch the tram back to the garage, drive back to pick up my SO and head home to Sarasota.
Hope this helps.

Have a great cruise!

2 week trans-Atlantic on TSS Stefan Batory from Gdynia, Poland to Montreal, Canada. Moving to our new country - USA. I celebrated my 12th birthday on the ship. My sister, 16, and my father also celebrated their birthdays on the ship. The captain would arrive at our dining table on our birthdays and present us with a birthday card with his signature and a picture of the ship. They also had a small group of waiters sing a Happy Birthday to us and gave us a full size cake. By the time we got mine, we were so sick of the cakes that I donated it to the crew. My mom was the only one that didn't get the "special" treatment.
