Default Transportation from FLL to port of Miami

Does anyone have suggestions for transportation from Fort Lauderdale International airport to the port of Miami? We have booked a cruise on the Glory for 6 people leaving January 10th.

I would like to do better that paying Carnival $60 per person round trip on the shuttle bus.

Need help....

We are leaving in 12 days, and we have booked through SAS travel. It is $15 per person. The website is ridesas.com, the guy's name is Steve. I have heard good things about them on the (now defunct) Carnival Forums, and I do know he was very prompt in contacting me and setting everything up. Hope this helps...

Thank you, I'll check them out. I've contacted John's car service and they are charging $90.00 each way which includes tip and all fees. That works out to $15 per person each way also. Not sure who we'll use yet....

Default Fll to Miami

We did a transfer last year from Fll to Miami. Set up the reservation on company website for private car at reasonable rate, no deposit, got the confrimation. However at airport no one showed up, after several phone calls realized the driver was at the airport, but in Miami and really annoyed we weren't there. We did have our confirmation in hand. Never got an apology from that company. Needless to say we ended up with help from a airport courtesy person with SAS. A few dollars more and very efficent. Wouyld definitely use them in future.
Bottom line make sure the info is correct when you book ahead. And don't pay ahead.

on this same idea- is it possible (adviseable) to fly into FLL early, catch a transfer to Miami port and get on the ship if it is leaving 4pm -all in the same day? I would prefer NOT to go a day early and spend a night in a hotel at either place - just wondering.

Alot of it depends on where you're coming from and when your cruise is. For example, I live in MN and we're cruising at the end of February. If I had booked our airfare to fly in the morning of the cruise I guarantee there would be a snowstorm, our flight would be delayed, our connection missed and our luggage lost. And therefore we would miss the sailing of our ship.

Bottom line? No, it is not advisable, you're asking for trouble and stress that's not needed.

Definately not adviseable!! You have to be checked in at least 90 minutes before sailing...which means you have to be there by at least 2:30... one little glitch and you will most likely miss your cruise...hotels can be found fairly cheap & it's a low price to pay for peace of mind...not to mention you will be relaxed & rested when you board your ship instead of tired from traveling all day...

Default SAS NOT Recommended by Me

I booked SAS based on a number of good reviews on this board and did NOT have a good experience. The wait at the airport was VERY LONG and the van was a stinky/smokey mess. The driver was pleasant but after the long wait and the stench the trip could not be salvaged. I would NOT recomend them.
