Default Cinnamon Beach or Trunk Bay Beach?

We will be on Oceania's Regatta in January and it calls on Cruz Bay. We would like to spend the day on a beautiful beach and are trying to decide which one to visit. Would you recommend Cinnamon Beach or Trunk Bay? Cost/logistics of getting to each? etc. Or do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks for your time.

Prof... There are a lot of similarities to both beaches: they each have changing rooms, a gift shop, snack bar, and gear rentals. They even both have a cay off shore to snorkel around! And they're both beautiful beaches.

Trunk is a little closer to town (so a slightly shorter and cheaper taxi ride), and will definitely be the more crowded of the two, as its the most touristy beach on the island. However, as much as people talk about the "crowds" at Trunk, its never been what I would call "OVERcrowded" in the times we've been there, and no where near like many U.S. mainland beaches have become. There is a small entrance fee to Trunk as well.

Cinnamon is a little bigger, a little less crowded, a little further away from town, so a few more minutes and maybe a couple dollars more for the taxi. There is no entry fee for Cinnamon. The water is typically a little rougher there, because its a little less sheltered than Trunk, but this allows for wind surfing or sailing in those small boats, which you can rent there.

Really, you can't go wrong with either beach. You may even find one of the other awesome beaches on the North Shore that you like better than either of these!

Have a great time!!

Thanks 2feathers! We have wanted to get to St. John's for a long time. We actually have a Starwoods timeshare that includes the Westin--but in five years I have only been able to get availability once--and it turned out to be the week my niece graduated from college so I had to cancel (my school graduated two weeks before hers).

Thanks again for the info!

Default Cinnamon Bay - all the way

Ohh.. you gotta go to Cinnamon. It's the real thing. Even if the water's rough you can visit the ruins, have lunch, and relax and stay away from crowds. It's the best. We spent a week at the campground and never got bored.
