Default Please HELP Need Advise

WE are supposed to sail out Tuesday and I am sick!!! Started feeling bad last night. Have not been able to get off of couch all day. I am going to go to Doctor tomorrow to get a shot and some meds.. But what do I do about the cruise? We bought insurance, should we cancel or try and drive down there and see if I am better by Tuesday morning? We live in Louisiana its over an 12 hr drive.... I am so upset... I have sore throat, cough, body aches, I have slept all day today... Any advise would be great, this is our first ever cruise so I am nervous to start with and now I feel like I am going bonkers!
I read on here that you have to feel a questionairre before you get on the cruise if i answer truthfully will they even let me on??
I understand them not letting me get on I wouldn't want my family exposed to sickness on our vacation either. I just want to know before I drive all the way there...

Just a question.. what are you getting a "shot" for and what are the meds for?

Also, do you have a fever?

I would see what the doctor says, but if you were leaving Saturday, I would say it doesn't look good. Tuesday is still days away.

Be guided by what your doctor says. Explain the situation to him.

Yes, you definitely do have to fill out a form. And they have turned people away at the dock.

Good luck and feel better!

you have penty of time to be well before tuesday.
Dont panic, wait and see what happens.

Yes they can and will deny boarding if you exhibit fever or flu signs. If your well before the cruise and Dr. says your ok, then when you fill out the form dont say anything about it. Then you wont have any worries about what they will say, but thats only if your well.

If your still not well on Monday I would call and cancel using your insurnace to cover it and change to another cruise.

Dont expose others to this. On a ship flu's and cold spread like wild fires do. The entire ship could catch it and ruin hundreds of vacations.
Plus it will not be any fun for you. You would not enjoy yourself and waste your vacation.

Good luck, take care and remember you still have several days to get better.

Definitely take your doctor's advice. In addition, if you make a claim against your insurance for cancelling, you'll more than likely need your doctor to complete a form attesting to the fact that you were too ill to take the cruise.

What Disney cruise sails out on a Tuesday? Do you mean Thursday? Or have I missed a change in Disney's sailing schedule?

Hope you feel better.

Sounds like the flu....usually its infectious on the first day or so you have it. Sounds like you have a few days to get better though. Drink tons of fluids and get rest.

Well, the good news is you know when your cruise is now.

The bad news is that it shortens the time you have to get better.

Hopefully, you'll get some good news at the walk-in clinic. Explain the situation to the doc who sees you and ask his/her opinion. If the advice is not to go, I would contact your insurance while you are still at the clinic and ask what you need (documentation-wise) from the doctor who saw you and don't leave the clinic without it.

Good luck!

if you have bronchitis, more than likely you will spread it to your family. it is contageous. Better to cancel and take the cruise at a later date. better to be safe than sorry

Even though you are on antibiotics and usually after 24 hours on them you should not be so contagious, remember you are going to come in contact with many other diseases onboard that you wouldn't be affected by if you were healthy you and may pick them up since your immune system is not up to par.

Also, do you want to be on a cruise and get very sick if this turns into something else?

I am also curious as to what your doctor has advised.

I am happy you did get insurance.

Good luck and feel better.

I am assuming since you want to file with insurance, that you are looking to cancel? What did the doctor advise?

If you are canceling:

First, did you use a travel agent? Your TA will cancel on your behalf and may have some advice for you regarding filing the cancellation with insurance, especially if you purchased the travel insurance through your TA.

Second, if you didn't book your insurance through your TA, when you booked your travel insurance, you should've received an emergency phone number. Call and tell them you developed an illness and were advised by a doctor to cancel (assuming this is the case). Then ask the insurance company what they require in the way of proof/documentation that you are unable to travel.

If you are canceling, make sure you actually cancel the cruise and aren't just a no-show.
