Default beach closest to Christiansted

We are lalnning to have lunch in Christansted then would like to head to a beach close to it- it seems like many of the nicest beaches are in Fredericksted-- any help would be appreciated-

Protestant Cay is a tiny island right off of Christiansted, you take a 1 minute or less ferry ride from the Christiansted Boardwalk to the island. There is a nice beach and the view back of Christiansted and the harbor is very nice. It is however in the harbor so something to keep in mind... mostly sail boats and things of that nature in the harbor. Mermaid Beach at Buccaneer isn't too far, nice beach, small entrance fee paid at resort gate when entering.
