My husband and I just sent a booking request for the April 20th cruise on the Sea Dream I. If it works out, this will be our second cruise; our first was on Royal Caribbean. While we had a great time on RCCI, we were kind of turned off by the constant emphasis on tipping and the big crowds. I've been lurking on this board for months, soaking in all the tips you old pros have been dishing out. If Sea Dream is all it's cracked up to be, I can see us becoming old pros, too!

We are in the same boat, so to speak
, as we are looking forward to our first SD experience December 4th. We never used the rock climbing wall, didn't care about the fancy shows, didn't like the constant announcements, big crowds, etc. We love being on the water. We are super excited to get the show on the road. The folks here are great and will answer all your questions as they have mine. It's a very friendly group.

Carole,
You kiddingly speak of not being able to limit anything to a sentence or two. Wait until you see my review. I am going to be the same I think. I don't have a laptop so I'm trying to figure out how to make my daily notes before I forget an important detail (old age and all). Sadly, my pictures won't compare as I'm taking a small digital and you're a pro! 24 days until we leave for SJ, woohoo. art |

Hey Carole,
I found your blog yesterday and definitely had a great time reading it. My husband and I just moved back to the States from Germany and I was looking at your pictures of France and wishing we were still in Europe. I just got the confirmation from SeaDream and forwarded it to my husband... This is definitely going to be one of our pricier trips, but we're getting a GTY rate and I think all the coddling and intimacy on board is going to win him over. You're right-- with everything that is included on SeaDream, it's very likely to be a much better value for the money than RCCI is. Better yet, we won't be assailed with videos about tipping! Neither of us has much experience with the Caribbean. He's never been and I've only been to Jamaica, so this cruise ought to be a great experience for us travelwise, too. |

I usually make notes the old fashioned way, pen to paper, while on board so I don't forget anything ... and I still manage to miss a thing or two for DJ's DH to point out to me ![]() Quote:
We have sailed on RCCI, Disney, HAL, Princess, Seabourn and SD in the Caribbean. The one we keep coming back to time and time again is SD ... unless of course we have our DD with us

You speak kind words. Thank you. Your cruise is getting closer and closer. I'm so jealous! Man, how I'd love to be able to book a voyage. Stupid recession! ![]() ![]() You know - DJ & I will hold you to that review, wordy or not. Making daily notes with pen & paper was very tough for me back in the day. So, one day I hijacked my DHs laptop during a trip to Disney World (yes, I've blogged my WDW trips, too...there's no hope for me ) in an effort to make my daily writing go much faster and to prevent forgetting details. Much to his chagrin, I've not been the same since. He was absolutely certain that no one on the face of the planet would be intersted in my humorous take on the woman standing next to me at a Disney parade one hot August day...it was hotter than Phoenix in the summer and more humid than I care to remember. She'd *obviously* forgotten her deodorant that afternoon and I was standing down wind... My poor family has been held hostage to my constant photography and computer time. I frequently hear, "Geez, Mom, I'm *starving*! Do you *have* to take a picture of my steak right now?" During our SD cruises, my DH rolls his eyes while I spend an hour or so on a Sunbed blogging & uploading photos. Drinking champagne, too. Can't forget that. ![]() [See, I had to live up to not being able to say anything in 20 words or less!]

There's something very special about Europe - I can't wait to go back. On a SD yacht, of course. ![]() Videos about tipping? How ghastly, LOL! I've never cruised with anyone but SD and, like many folks here, am convinced you'll really love the SD experience. I'd never been to the Caribbean before our SD cruise last April. This may be the voice of inexperience, but it wasn't as green as I'd thought it would be. The water is amazing, but I wasn't impressed with the islands themselves. All the more reason to stay on the yacht.

Hilarious, Carole.
So just out of curiosity is there a part of this site where you can post pictures, or do I need to find a seperate site that lets you upload them? |

If you look at my March '09 review (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showt...045&highlight=) you will see that the photos are impeded in the trip report. I upload them to photobucket and then insert the url here. |
