Thanks for verifying Don.
Was there crystal ball clear enough to know if they are going to leave the webcam in place?

Don, they just announced the new name and expectation year. The new ship is Silouhette ( think I spelled it right) and due out in 2011.Should be interesting on how they are going to do this since the Fantasy is due in 2011 also.

Thanks, pretty much disapproval of the name on the Celebrity board. Funny thing is that some of their previous ships are Millenium and Constellation which havethe nicknames of Mille and Connie. Some are saying the new ship will be nicknamed Silly. Whatever, the ships are really beautiful, I was recently on the Equinox.

No luck on finding info on the web cam..

Welcome. I just happened to log on the other day and saw that on the homepage.

I can see where some people would have an issue with the name, but I thought it was explained pretty well on how the class and this ship in particular got her name.

The Solstice class is very nice, I'd sail on the Silly in a heartbeat

New York City just did almost the same thing with their 2 new fireboats. One was just launched not long ago, here in Fl, and built the same way. They built part of it up side down, then flipped it over and finished it, then launched it on a traditional slipway.

Truck:

I think some of the complaints were that they didn't keep the habit of naming them after Celestial objects. Also, Silhouette is actually the name of the Main Dining room on Equinox so it was a little odd. Some have jokingly said at least they kept naming them after cars. Celebrity has big winners with these ships, they are spectacular...

Back to Disney though, it does appear that they have not started Silhouette yet so its a pretty good bet that ship with Eclipse is the Dream.

Have a Happy New Year....

My bad. Didnt read the controversial name thread only the thread on what the new name is and why the class is named the way they are.

They look like great ships, and are added to my need to sail list.Much better then the new Epics which look like the top 4 or 5 decks are after thoughts and someone was dyslexic when they put them on.

Happy New Year Don.

Chris:

Actually, its not just a class that has been named after Celestial objects but Celebrity's entire fleet since their inception, at least they still are all cars..

I just got off the Equinox and it was beautiful. It will be interesting to see the Disney ship taking shape if they keep the web cam on. We will know in March..

Looks like they floated out the Aida Blu, here is a link to some pics, in a couple of these pics is a large module outside. I like how Meyer Werft floats them out Painted, something about seeing a ship sail thats not fully painted yet with all those seams so visible.

These pictures and the website are from an independent photographer, he sometimes gets into the ship yard - I hope Andreas will get some good shots of the dream during her build.

Hi,
This is my first time posting. My family and I are sailing our first cruise on the Disney Dream, 5 days, in August 2011.

I am a member of a Disney website that had this info. It is a link to a website that is giving a tour of the shipyard where the Dream is being built. If you go up to the tab that says "slide show" it shows the ship in progress. Hope the link works!

It works. I didnt see the slide show when I was on that site the other day.
The tour is on DCLs page under shore excursions. Would love to do it if I was on one of those trips.

BTW welcome to the board.

Those have got to be real old pictures, the Eclipse is almost done, I guess its just an interesting way to get someone to do the excursion since the average person wouldn't know that the ship that is most complete is not the Dream. Since they are doing an excursion, perhaps the rumors that they will not allow the cameras to operate during the building are not true. Doesn't seem consitent to allow people to visit the shipyard while turning off the camera. We will know in about 6 weeks when Eclipse is taken out of drydock.

I think those pics are fairly recent. They were taken from the Eclipse towards the Dream. The give away is the signature black hull.In one of the pics you can see the bulbous bow section.Theres 1 Im not sure of how it was taken since there is a lot of white towards the back that looks like it may be the Eclipse. But for the most part they look like they were taken to keep the Eclipse out of the picture.

I was thinking the same thing about the webcam. Its odd that they would want it off, but allow people in with cameras.Especially since Celebrity was running a contest to go to Papenburg for the Ems transit of the Eclipse and a tour of the docks and yard.
I did see 1 and only 1 post that the poster had stated that MW had issued a press release last year abut the webcam being turned off, but hes the only 1 and I cant find it on their site.
Like you said, well know in a few more weeks.
