Has anyone had any experience with military or club lodging in Australia where active or retired U.S. military can stay?

We stayed at the Springfield Lodge by King's Cross. It's not too big, clean, and unairconditioned. It may have been an old hotel or very large house. Under $100 a night. We would stay there again. It's a block from the subway and right in the heart of everything.
