23 Days out, Jewel out of Tampa 3/17. Still alot of cabins open including
balconies. We are praying to the upgrade gods!! We are currently on deck 4 large oceanview stateroom #4030 and we are hoping for an ugrade to an E1 or higher.

Upgrades are rare. Good luck. Since you not only want an upgrade, but want a specific balcony category, it might be best to check the current rates and see if paying for the upgrade is feasible. Some sailings have balcony guarantees but that might not get you the E1 you desire.
good luck- keep us posted.
Happy Cruising !
Sailed on every RCCL ship class
Sailed several cruises on Celebrity
Sailed fewer on Carnival
If they have had gauranty type available for categories like balcony then the chance of upgrade will be slim. If the number of solid bookings plus balcony gauranty was equal to the number of balconies then it owuld be closed out but. Say there were 20 showing and there were 19 gauranties they would still try to sell any of the 20 at full price (and close out the category) but if not then when the assign the gauranties there would only be one left as an upgrade option so the odds would be long against it. There is no way (that I know of) of knowing the gauranty count.
