Anyway, that's really all I got. I've got hundreds of cruise pics.
New Orleans was a lot of fun. I can't imagine there being another city quite like it. They have their own cuisine, music, architecture, dialect, and just their own way of life. They were great hosts and provided a great experience. We wish we would have had more time because 4 nights wasn't enough. I guess we'll just have to go back!

I loved reading your review of New Orleans! I am a local and I have to say you did it right!! LOL! I was glad to hear you took advantage of the easy serve Hurricane at Pat O's! You can't leave New Orleans without an authentic Hurricane from Pat O's. I loved the fact that you got the pronunciation of Praw-leens and not Pray-leens! A+ on your Cajun Dialect
! Sorry to hear you didn't get a chance to see any Gators. But, yep, those little buggers go down around the end of October. I got an up-close and personal in my very own backyard!Happy to hear you enjoyed our unique city and all that we hold dear! Who Dat! |

Thanks for the great review... we are going back there again at the end of the month. We only get to spend a short time once again but we hope to make the best of it.
Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun I am going to try to see if we can take in some of these sights as well. The bars sound like a ton of fun I love live music but we wont be able to partake maybe one day I will have the heart to leave the kiddos at home.

Thanks to everybody who responded!
Yep, it ranks up there as one of the greatest times in my life, especially for a vacation. "We" didn't have to drive any where. The Sheraton was a fabulous location. Bourbon St was a lot of fun. Every street was cool and just different We didn't just stick to the French Quarter. I felt like we did ourselves justice by experiencing what Frenchmen St, the Garden District and the swamps had to offer. Even though we really didn't do that much in the Garden District. We ate a lot of different cuisine that was really tastey for us. I really want to go back sooner than later. I've been building New Orleans up to my sister and friends. Unfortunately, I have my eyes set on other big American cities I've never visited with: Boston and Miami leading the way! With that said, I have a few questions... What was up with the streetcar's lights going off every other block? What's with those Daquiri businesses? You can get an alcoholic drink to go through a drive-thru? Are there really laws against modernizing buildings in the FQ? Are you supposed to haggle with the fortune tellers? There seemed to be just a lot of people every where, was it just the season we were there? Is there ever a slow season? Why do you guys think gaming hasn't caught fire in the bar scenes the way it has in Nevada? In NOLA, if you want to gamble at a bar, it's off in the corner or away from the bar. There aren't machines built into the bar counters.

All good answers.
Any changes to a building in the French Quarter that are visable from the street must be approved by the Vieus Carre Commission, and must be consistant with historical appearance. That includes paint, shutters, fans, gaslights, roofs, etc. They use archives to make comparisons, and are verystrict in enforcement. |

I second that! It makes me eager to go back.
As for the hand grenade thing tho, I am absolutely agog at what all you were able to drink in addition to it! 1 & 1/2 did us in last April.

Cris, I can't remember when I have read a more entertaining review of New Orleans. I went to Medical School there and lived there as a youngster. You certainly know how to party and I think you were down with where Partying is all about. You will now have to be there for Mardi Gras. Thanks for taking the time to write such a nice report. I love the report on the drinking since you took me back to my days in Med School. I lived in the French Quarter since I could walk to school. Studied most of the time then, but a big night was to drink beer and eat raw oysters. Many other places besides Acme, but there's are good too. BTW --there is suppose to be a piece of crab leg in the gumbo. Thanks for your report. I know you had a good cruise, because you know how to party. Keep going since one day you can look back and say. I had a good time. BTW, I love Reno. Those blackjack dealers didn't believe us when we told them we ate crawfish. They thought crawfish was used for bait. |

Loved reading your review!
Thanks for sharing the good AND the bad. I was a fan of how if an experience was bad, you didn't put blame, just shrugged and chalked it up to experience- great attitude! We would so party with you on a ship! Can't wait to go to NOLA in November! |
