Eddie, it's quite interesting. In 2008 we did a 30 cruise on the Emerald Princess (12 days Barcleona to Venice & 18 days Venice to FLL) and I bought the charts for those 2 cruises. They auction them off at the end of each cruise. Had them framed and they're handing in John's office. On the charts, you see the original voyage route, then they show the hurricane that was in the Atlantic and then they show the new rerouted version, which is the one we took to avoid all of the nasty weather. The charts are hanging on display of each ship and they are very interesting. We have no more walls left, but my D/H loves his 3 charts.

That is our plan also. We've never been to Capri or Anacapri. I was talking to Julia about doing it on our own. I don't want to do the Blue Grotto boat tour where you have to practically lay down to go into a cave and I'm not sure it's for us. But I'd like to see it if we can. Walking around Capri and take in the sights sounds great.

If I remember correctly, easy ferry ride to Capri and then take a funicular once you are on shore in Capri. Can someone confirm that my recollection is accurate or am I thinking of another place? I did this in 2001.

You're correct. You walk to the left of the port area (when facing Naples) and there are a lot of lines selling tickets to Capri, once over there you get your ticket for the funicular and up you go. We didn't buy a return ticket so we wouldn't be tied to a particular line coming back. Extremely easy.

You're correct...we took it from Sorrento but think it can also be done from Naples & maybe someplace else. We went there during a landtour & unfortunately the funnicular was closed for repairs. We walked to the main city which was quite physical going up many steep steps. I believe you could also get there by cab but whether the funnicular is operational may be something to consider.

Just an FYI, tomorrow we make our annual trek to the Northern Neck of VA for the art show benefiting the volunteer fire dept. There are usually some good sculptors and artists there and we've bought a few things over the years. Add to that the fact that we go for lunch at the Tides Inn which is a lovely place on a navigable creek right off the Rappahanock River and it makes for a perfect day. Anyway, the point of all this is that if you send me an e-mail and don't hear back for a while, it's because I'm either eating or absorbing culture out of town for the day

Oh, did I miss the restaurant tour? Nah, I'd much rather spend my time seeing the sights than sitting in a restaurant. A short lunch that gives us the flavor of wherever we're at is good enough for me!
