When we stayed at the Locanda Orseolo, they suggested the Marco Polo near the Rialto. We ate there twice. The second time they served us complimentary Prosecco and bruschetta. Not too expensive either. Good service.

Any suggestions for breakfast places in Venice? I will be staying near the bus stop, but have opted to do breakfast on our own as Rick Steve's guide book suggested. But the book did not suggest any restaurants for breakfast. I know we could just go to the co op and buy something there and eat it in our room. But I was hoping for some place where we could sit down and have breakfast while watching the views of the canal.

The hotels we've always stayed at in Venice included breakfast in their rates (and a wonderful breakfast it was!!!). Did the hotel you booked not include that amenity? If they do, I would recommend using it. The breakfasts we've had were nice buffets with fruit, yogurt, cereal, usually some pastries and eggs cooked to order or crepes. Cappucino or regular or espresso coffee was also included.

If you don't want to do that, there are little coffee shops around where you can get a coffee and a pastry but from what I remember most restaurants per se aren't open until later in the day.

The hotel Atlecchino does have an optional breakfast, so I may change my booking to include that. But I was only going by what the travel guide book said, I can't even function without my coffee at least.

Our Hotel (Locanda Orseolo) has an amazing (and yummy!) breakfast that we always look forward to. Most days we skip lunch since breakfast was so filling!

Breakfast for Italians is an espresso or a cappuccino and a pastry. Most hotel breakfasts give you a little more than that, some have an American breakfast but not many.

Our Hotel (Locanda Orseolo) has an amazing (and yummy!) breakfast that we always look forward to. Most days we skip lunch since breakfast was so filling!

I remember last October when we arrived our room wasn't ready. Breakfast was just about over but the wonderful staff made sure we had something to eat and drink while we waited for our room to be ready.....

The fabulous breakfast with a view is one of the main reasons we stay here.
