Prayers are out for you Donna!!!

It looks like Rick & Sybil's vacation plan has come up with another pretty good cruise option. They (We) are seriously looking at the 12-day, Enchantment of the Seas cruise on Feb 25, 2013.

Looks like the price is decent & the dates will fit into everyone's schedule. Plus it is out of Baltimore which means only an hour drive from home. With gas prices skyrocketing this will be a good cost savings for us. Plus no hotel stays either.

More to come.

Ralph, the ports sound great but sailing from Baltimore that time of year would not be conducive to sitting out on deck. (Sigh)

Yep we know Becki but with the gas prices it's about the best we could do for the price. The ship has a solarium with hot tubs and a pool so we are hoping we could at least enjoy the hot tub for the first day or two. This ship was updated a few year's ago and it appears to have a lot of bars & sitting areas that will keep up occupied until warmer weather. If all fails we'll hit the casino early, LOL.

With the WOW deal available right now we'll probably be booking the cruise today. If anyone is interested in joining us today is the last day for the $200 shipboard credit.

Ralph, I hear ya, and if I lived that close to a port, I think I'd go for it too. We shall see...

We are officially booked on the cruise with Rick & Sybil. Ken & Kris may be joining us but they are currently on a cruise. Left them a message.

Default Everybody is booking!

Here is my latest scatterheaded thoughts on a cruise. Kitty has England on her bucket list. Might just consider a few days in England and then come home to NY on the Maiden Voyage of the new NCL Breakaway. Sails April 30th, 2013 from Southhampton to NYC. Just a thought. Might change my mind tomorrow!
Best to you all!
Matt

Hi Matt ! Thanks for checking in

Ralph - congratualtions on the 12 day Enchantment. I wish we could drive to a cruiseport! It would take a couple of days from Chicago lol.

Still haven't heard from Pink or Oink - you two out there?

We are officially booked on the Liberty for Nov 3rd. Told Ron about it yesterday (his birthday) He wasn't too happy about me spending the money, but.... We need something to look forward to Geez

Hi Donna,

Happy Birthday to Ron. Has he caught up to the NO VA Gang yet??

Yep this is the only way we could consider another cruise. It has to be a local trip. Hopefully soon we can all get together again. Our gas prices just went over the $4.00/gallon mark this week. It's starting to hurt just about everyone around here, expecially with our traffic problems. 30% of the drive time is sitting in traffic burning high priced gasoline!!

Ken & Kris are joining us I think. They are in FL and should be back today. They seemed interested.

Matt - a maiden voyage sounds neat. Go for it!!

Hope to hear from OINK & Pink soon.

HAPPY EASTER
to everyone.

Ralph, I can sympathize with you. My niece announced on FB that she had "found" her half-sister; a baby my sister had given up for adoption 42 yrs ago. To say I was shocked to find out that way is the understatement of the century. The only saving grace is that my sister is not a FB subscriber.

Wow Becki - Holy @$&* !

She didn't tell her mother that she was looking for her sister?

I found out about 5 years ago that my older cousin (about 7 years older than me) had gotten pregnant as a teen and given up the baby for adoption. I was probably 9 at the time - so it was back in 1969. The whole family covered that up and kept the secret for many years. My younger sister found out and told me. Lots of weird things that the family swept under the rug back then as well as a suicide attempt by another cousin when I was like 12?

No wonder we are so messed up!

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Ron, Ralph. I will pass them on. He turned 54 on the 3rd.

Love to you all
Donna

Donna,
No, my niece had registered about 5 yrs ago on a site for adoptees and birth family members of adoptees hoping to connect. My niece had not told me or her mother she had done this. My sister had expressed a somewhat vague interest over the years in her adopted-out daughter and in at least finding out what had happened to her, to at least know that she had had a good life. But, when I offered to help her, she kind of drew back,so I let it drop. But, eventually, the half-sister found my niece's registry and sent her an email and this is when the FB posting happened. Like your family, very few in my family even knew my sister had been pregnant, so for my niece to have announced this on FB was beyond out of bounds, in my opinion. My sister, niece and the daughter have since all met, but it doesn't look like there is going to be an ongoing relationship. Maybe between my niece and her half-sister, but only via email. Kinda sad, as my niece had always wanted a sister (she's an only child) and she initially thought this was going to be a great relationship, but it has since cooled. I would think it would be kinda hard, after 40-some years to feel instant warm & fuzzies for someone just because you share some genes. But,maybe that's just me...

Geez Becki,

That must have been very hard for your sister! As much as I am glad I have re-connected with some old friends on facebook, it seems to be a double edged sword.
My first husband (who broke my heart in a million pieces) has pictures all over facebook of his kids and wife. He is also quite successful as a VP of a company. A little hard to bear at first.... I was hoping his life had gone to ruins after we split up LOL !
The flip side is that he was once an extremely good looking guy and he now resembles a troll - very fat, bald etc!
I seriously would have not recognized him if he had come up to me on the street! Pretty incredible..

Facebook has brought together alot of people, but sometimes.. I think it's better not knowing about certain people from your past.

Donna -A fat, bald troll - huh???? Kind of hard to picture that one, LOL.

I found several cousins who moved to the West Coast in the 60's on FB that I never heard from since they moved. Two still live in CA & one is in FL at the Villages. It was great to hear from them again since we both families were close at one time. My cousin in FL is putting together a montage of the family pictures dating back to the 50s. I sent him some old pictures and I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

FB does have some good points!!

Hi cruise buds !!

This thread has been so quiet... Hope everyone is OK.
Ms Oink - are you still working? How's the job?
Deb - everything well with you and Michael?
Ralph - how's everything in No Va ?

We have a huge thread going on the Carnival Liberty cruise. Seems to be a fun group and now I can't wait to start planning what we are going to do in each port.
The snorkeling will be spectacular in Roatan and Belize. SOO EXCITED!

Donna, it really does make anticipating a cruise more fun when you have a great roll call to lead up to it,doesn't it?

Ralph, I agree that FB can be a great tool for connecting and keeping in touch with friends and family. But, I also maintain that some don't know when it's appropriate to share something on FB and when it's better to share it via private email.

Default Hi folks

Hope you are all just peachy. I try to check in from time to time so I don't lose track completely. Never know, maybe we'll get the whole bunch back together yet.
Well, we did it. We are heading to England in April 2013. Kitty has wanted to go for years and I have dragged my feet some as I have been. Not fair I suppose, so here we go. We will go over to spend at least 5 days before boarding the NCL Breakway (name sounds like it slipped it moorings) for her Maiden Voyage to New York. I hear these voyages can be nice as they know you are the first passengers and people will want to know what is what when you return. I also hear we could expect little odds and end issues as the crew settles in to it's new ship as might be expected.
New ship, leaving the same port, for the same destination, in the same month as the Titanic. We just won't tempt fate and call her "Unsinkable" I expect we'll have a few more life boats on-board as well.
Let's do lunch .............................
Matt

Happy Friday ALL

Appears Oink & Pinksand have abandoned us. COME BACK!!!

All is well in No Va. Our bud Rick is having some health issues that the doctors can't seem to figure out. He gets terrible pain in his abdomen and no one knows why. He's had all kinds of testing including a recent MRI but the results are negative. Pray for our Bud!!

Becki/Freedom - thanks for the FB posts. I guess I better get on FB and respond to my homies, LOL.

Matt - your vacation/cruise to England will be fantastic. Can't wait to hear about it.

And yes the groundhog is back!! Let the games begin.

Be back soon.
