No Jimmy B has a house in West Palm Beach, Florida. He gave a free concert along the Miss. River during the Final Four that was held in New Orleans. We went to that with some friends.

As his "misplaced youth' he spent a lot of time in New Orleans, working the street corners in New Orleans(Bourbon Street) So does have fondness for New Orleans and Jazz Fest.

For Jazz Fest, he is a replacement for a group that had to cancel. As far as 'down time'? What is that?

I have had 4(four) total hip replacements. And as long as the latest sets hold up, I will be out there.

Carol, I am more concerned that you have a phone in case the car breaks down...or if you are out shopping etc.

Jimmy James, do you hold the record? My 85 year old mom just had a total hip replacement last month...this should last her lifetime, I hope. I was impressed how she was out and about less than 24 hours after surgery. They say it is an easier surgery than the knee replacement.

The Ipad is great - yes, for convenience sake - but it's just nice to have cuz it's smaller than a lap top - sharp images - can also use as an e=reader -- oh heck, get them all - PC, laptp, iphone, ipod, ipad.... ha!ha!

Janice, I am fine with my old fashion flip phone nokia cuz I hardly use my cell phone - was thinking of getting the ipod for the 4G service -plus it's smaller and when downloading music, it's smaller for the docking station instead of the Ipad -

Carol - you can get a cheap cell phone - just to have for emergencies - that's all I have mine for - I probably use less than 2 min per month - except when I am i hawaii, I have 'hours' as usage - my server probably thinks i am wierd.

I love all the JJMMx pics!! was listening to the J.Buffet today - we went to Margaritaville in Honolulu -- cool place -

Carol, what carrier do you have for the Ipad? I keep thinking that it will make our monthly bill even bigger than it is now...

I doubt I am a record holder. I got my 1st set at the tender age of 40 something, the the latest set at 59 or so. I just get some more in 20 years if needed.

The physical therapy people also said that about knee replacements. The more active you are, the quicker they can wear out. I figure a 20 year run was not so bad. Beats a wheel chair.

I do use this when I have a lot of walking to do. I just sit for a few moments , fold up the seat, now it is cane with a seat.
Pretty neat thing:

Jimmy, Bob had both his knees replaced and as far as he knows he will not be able to have it done again and that is why they won't do a knee replacement on a person that is to young

Jimmy, do you know how far it is from New Orleans to Galveston? and is it an easy drive?

Janice: my Ipad is wi-fi ... which we have at home - that's why I want an Ipod - and will have to check out how much it'll be for my phone and Ipod - and if it's cheaper just to get an Iphone - except I really want to keep the phone and Ipod separate.

The Ipad is a 64G which is the higher of all - so I have lots of memory and can't even think of upgrading to the Ipad3 right now - I am just fine with what i have -

Jimmy James, I wouldn't mind having one of these...the pavement or grass gets hard after awhile! However, I might be challenged in figuring out how to open it up and/or close this...

Carol, it is so hard to keep up with the latest...it's a losing battle and I was never into having to be the first one to have something. We can upgrade our phones in November but I am not certain if I want to do that at this point.

Howdy cruisers,

My iPad is also a wifi only one. Use it at home and when we travel. I have the 64 GB. It is great as an eReader and also for video and games. I can upgrade my phone now but I'll wait until after the work dispute is over. I will probably get an iPhone and then create a link with my iPad.

Jimmy, I would drive the six hours to Galveston. Both airports in Houston are just too far from the cruise ships.

Later,
Dave

Yikes, now I need to ask DH what that means...how was the picket line? Is sitting at home getting old yet? Perhaps you and Corkey can look into tour options for NOLA?

Hi, Janice. I checked the other day and it appeared to me that they were pretty much the same, at least for a GS.

Happy May to you and all here! I don't know you the rest of you feel, but I just can't believe May is here...I know it sounds like a cliche, but time is going so fast~I just want it to slow down a bit so I can savor it! Just a bit tho~especially when one is looking forward to cruises!

Hotel prices don't seem to have improved much, the Hilton Garden Inn is $599 a nite!!!! My Gosh, they sure are proud of their rooms!

Off to volunteer today. Tomorrow my pup is having her teeth cleaned...the weather today is supposed to be very warm, like around 80F.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Howdy cruisers,
I've spent a quiet day at home. Yesterday I was at the hall for over 4 hours. I'm walking the line Friday and Saturday afternoon. The highs are expected to be in the 90s both days. Summer is arriving early in Texas. I haven't checked the hotel rates recently. I still have my reservations.
Later,
Dave

Hello Dave...I have seen a hat with a fan attached. I am not certain if they work but at that temperature it's worth a try. I used to travel with a can of Evian water to spritz my face when I got hot! Too bad we didn't live nearby I could bring you a cold brewski!
