Just back from Cairo
We have just had a wonderful cruise on the Quest. The six days at sea were the best sea days we have had - really relaxing with lots of socialising. We had really interesting ports. We had the pirates chase us in the Red Sea but the Captain was wonderful - such a calm man. With security on board, everything was handled really well and there was never a time that I was nervous. Well done Azamara. As for Cairo, it was hot and dusty but no sign of any violence - the odd tank with very bored armed soldiers! I think the camels around the pyramids were more of a threat than the people! All in all, a wonderful and simply amazing Mumbai to Sohkna cruise

Glad to hear things have calmed down a bit.
We cancelled a trip to Egypt (for Jan 2012) and went on a safari instead (fabulous). I will get to Luxor on a cruise next year and I am hoping that by 2014 I can take that Nile Cruise and trip to Cairo.

Hi Mezza,
So glad you had a good time.Chased by Pirates sounds very exciting!
I have been waiting for someone on your cruise to post info on how Quest is looking after the fire repairs? Is she fully functional and back to her lovely best now? I do hope so - and I can't wait to be on her again in September.

As it was our first Az cruise can't answer the 'lovely best' bit, but can say it was sensational. Far better than any other cruise we have been on (inc Celebrity). We are totally committed to Az now, the standard of service was out of this world as you already know.
Captain Leif told us that 3 out of 4 engines were totally functional and the fourth would be 100% operational by the time Quest got to Athens. About 40 technicians remained on board and will until they reach Athens, but as a passenger all seemed totally normal.
As for the pirates our 'good guys' were exceptional.
Enjoy your next cruise
Regards
Peter & Linda

Having witnessed Captain Karlsson under some very trying circumstances, I can confidently say that he has the right stuff. Pirates are no match for him! Decades of experience have given him expert judgment and calm professionalism. Yet he's still very approachable and humble. I sure hope we get to sail with him again.

me too - actually we will be back on the Quest in July but I think the Captain, Cruise Director and several others will be on vacation. Shame, but we will enjoy different crew. They are all superb. Thanks again Azamara

Hi Peter (and Linda)
I am so glad you had a great time after all your trials and tribulations pre cruise - of course I knew once you were onboard Quest that you would have the best cruise of your life - until the next one of course!
I bet your Meet&Mingle was interesting - plenty of topics for conversation I should think.
We have had all our compensation for the cancelled Spice Route cruise now and will be looking to use our FCC towards a similar cruise to Asia in 2013.
Wishing you both many happy future Azamara cruises.
