Sure will and I would be concerned about the structural integrity of the bridge after a side whack like that.

Woops

It's always scary going under bridges on a ship. A couple of years ago we were on the Dawn Princess and captain Todd McBain took the Dawn Princess right up the river into Shanghi which was fantastic. However it was a scary moment as we left and went under a bridge with only 1 metre to spare!!! Of course we were all on the top decks watching and hoping that they got the tides right

I remember that too Lizzy...did you notice how much the fares on Cherry Blossom have dropped....thousands and thousands less than we paid
Was a great cruise, just not a great ship.

And that the captian has calculated the loaded weight correctly - apparently the captain who was at the wheel of the Pearl with tugs providing the motor power for the tow admitted that he had forgotten to take into account that the ship was not carrying any passengers or cargo and would be riding high!

It's fairly frequent that ships will go under bridges with a metre or less to spare. However, most professional countries/operators don't have actual incidents like this any more.

Yes Sue I know some of you got sooooooo ripped off on that cruise. Our friends paid over $14000 each!!! For that cruise
We picked up a deal 6 mths out( obviously hadn't sold the cruise) that was for 1/2 the cruise Shanghai- Sydney, and 8 days in China with Helen Wong for less than 1/2 what they paid.
It was a wonderful trip with some amazing ports but the ship was ordinary. Imagine doing that itinerary on the Diamond or the Star Princess We Aussies can keep dreaming!!
