Decorations on your door... YOU may be a target!

I usually only occasionally respond to comments on this board, but thought I would start a thread. We were married on Princess during a port day but stayed in our wedding attire and partied by the pool during sail away (many people and children saw us).

If you are sailing on a popular cruise with many children... I highly recommend you take any decorations of "Just Married" off of your door! On our cruise, we had children knocking on our door and running up and down the hallways until 1-2am! We called Princess many times to complain.

Looking back I wish one of us would have stayed outside down the hall to grab one of the little bastards and report/pass them off to security ... okay a little extreme. BUT it was SO annoying!

Are you sure it had to do with the decorations? I mean, kids will be kids and as annoying as it is that their parents weren't watching them, I find it hard to believe that your door decorations were to blame.

Sure we knew. These kids were also screaming things like "Just Married," and "Newlyweds" while laughing and giggling. Our decorations said these things. Those decorations tell everyone exactly where you are on the ship if they walk by.

The day we married we had to tender. So I had my MIL make a rain coat to put around the bottom of my dress for tender in case the tender wasn't very clean or there was water on the seat. We were the last to enter the tender, so we would be the first off. I sat across from two children and their parents were across from my parents. They (the kids) put their legs on my dress (I didn't really care since I had the rain coat thingy). The father of the kids said something along the lines of, "Are you sure your fiancé won't swim instead of wed?" My parents and I were so shocked, we didn't say anything back. I don't think these were necessarily the kids that were screaming in our hallway, but I had to wonder if some other parents put their kids up to it. I have horrible cousins (I hate to admit) that would do something this stupid. Those cousins were not at our wedding.

We had decorations on our door when we got married on Princess and had issues. The only time anyone ever said anything to us was when we were leaving or entering our room.

I'm not going to worry myself about this as I have no problem with kicking little kids asses. their sad excuses for parents are to blame. I have no problem going to their cabin, telling their parents what they have been up to and complaining to princess about their antics all at the same time.

I was planning on getting something that says "just married" for our door as I want everyone to know haha!! I figure if it becomes an issue you can always take said decorations down.

We were married in Nassau last year while aboard the Majesty. My Mother secretly purchased the "Just Married" decorations for us as a surprise when we got back on board. We left them up for the remainder of the cruise without incident.

Might just be the time of year or unfortunate location near children.

I don't! Lol, I'd like to drop kick one of those little darlings right off my balcony! We've sailed Princess 5 times and Carnival 5 times, all of the misbehaving brats I've seen have been on Princess, and I actually watched the little buggers do it! Someone down the hall from us on our last Hawaii cruise had decorations on their door, twice I saw the same kids taking the decorations, and once saw the little boy pound on the door and then take off running towards the elevators. We were in an aft suite, so they had quite a ways to run, but I could hear the girl and another child laughing and giggling near where the boy had ran to.
Another Princess cruise I was walking behind some parents and their 2 teenage boys, somewhere between 12 and maybe 14, when the younger of the two reached out and ripped a banner on someones door saying "oops," the other boy laughed and the Mom turned to them with a smile and kind of rolled her eyes and said "don't do that." Yep, I'm sure she got through to them!
I don't think we'll be putting any "Just Married" decorations on our door, I don't want anyone disturbing us during intimate times, or more importantly, during nap time

We had decorations on our door and balcony (NCL GEM 6/11.) The door sign became a conversation piece, considering a family member blew up a picture of our engagement and wrote"If the boat is a-rockin', don't come a-knockin'."

ALL of our guests had signs on their doors and NOT ONE had this problem. This appears to be an isolated incident. Don't worry about it and post whatever you like!

We had a nice sign made up from Vista Print and never had a bad issue. Actually, I think it reminded folks that newlyweds were in the room and kept them from knocking so as not to unintentionally interrupt anything :-)

Also- the sign came in handy in helping us find the room- especially after an evening of imbibing- in fact I can't even remember our cabin number!

What did you hang your door signs with? Are the doors metal? Or does anyone remember?
