Anyone used a laundromat in St. Lucia? I'd like to do some laundry and I'm wondering if anyone knows where one would be close to the cruise port? What are the hours and the cost?
Thanks for your help! |

I can't imagine one nearby or one you would want to use.

Ditto to what Keith said
I do laundry in the shower. I throw the clothes on the floor of the shower and they wash while I wash. Yes, I stomp on them and it all sounds crazy but it works. I then hand wring the clothes and then towel wring them with my towel after I finish drying myself. I bring a clothesline and clothespins. The majority of our travel clothing are quick dry items that we've accumulated over the years.

Not sure why Keith1010 wouldn't want to use a laundry mat in St. Lucia - our clothes are just as clean as anywhere else.. There are several laundry mats up north, but most are up near Rodney Bay Marina - that is where the yachts dock and use the different facilities. It is about 30-35 minutes from the cruise port and about a $35US taxi ride one way - so you would definitely not be saving any money over usuing the ship's laundry in order to use the laundrymat on shore.
I have always found the laundry services on board the different lines to be perfectly fine. We have used laundry on Princess, Carnival and Celebrity and never had a problem. They are pretty reasonably priced also. Another option is as noted above - we know lots of people who bring lots of wash and wear items and do a bit of handwashing in the basin in the room - although washing while in the shower and stomping on their clothes is a new one for us! I am sure it works well enough also. And - depending on your line, there are self-use laundry facilities, you just need quarters. good luck - if you want to the names of the laundry facilites up near the marina, I will be happy to post them. Enjoy your cruise. |

On top of this why would one want to basically make a day in St. Lucia a laundry day when there are other things one can do in port. Keith |

If you're sailing Royal Caribbean (which does not have self-service laundry), I would take advantage of the $25 laundry bag special. Costs less than going to the laundromat on the island, plus you'll have time to actually enjoy your vacation day in St. Lucia. You can do a search on the laundry special in the Royal Caribbean forum here on CC

Sorry. We aren't going Royal Caribbean this cruise. We'll be sailing Celebrity and I've checked the laundry prices. I bet we could buy new clothes cheaper than their advertised prices. They don't have any self-serve laundry facilities on any of their ships.
I'm in favor of the "stomping". Maybe I can pretend I'm stomping on the grapes to make a great bottle of wine.... LOL... Thanks, everyone. |

Caching- Celebrity often offers laundry specials on their longer cruises - often a $20 laundry bag, fill as full as you can for $20, etc., sometimes several times a cruise. As for their laundry prices, they are pretty reasonable for a resort or cruise line. Good luck!
As for doing laundry in ports - while you may be able to find laundromats near the ports - do you really want to spend your precious vacation/port time doing chores? There is so much to see and experience in each of your ports that doing laundry would cause you to miss out on! Chip in an extra $20-$40 or so bucks for some laundry on the ship and plan to spend your time in ports actually experiencing the beauty of each island - they are all different and offer unique experiences. Enjoy your cruise! |

Reedprincess -- I'm not sure if you will be alerted to this post... I'd love to get the names and locations of the laundromats you mention up north. We are now at Ti Kaye at Anse Cochon and transferring to LeSport up north on Sunday and would like to do some laundry at a laundromat. I know there is one in Marigot, and I would have assumed there'd be some in Rodney Bay / Gros Islet, but I can't find them listed online or in the phone book. Any in Castries would be fine, too. Thanks!!

The one in Marigot would be very convenient for you to use - great place to spend the late morning, have lunch, etc. If not, try this one in Gros Islet:
St Lucia Linen Services Ltd Union Ind'l Pk Box 2135 Gros Islet 758-450-2924 758-450-1365 758-450-2314 admin at stlucialinen dot comThey may be able to assist you. Or perhaps here: Suds Laundry and Gas Rodney Bay Marina, Saint Lucia Tel:+1 758 285 4388 Can't say anything about either one, as a) I don't live up north and b) I have my own washing machine! If you were down south, I could direct you to a great laundry service in Vieux Fort, but that's a 1.5 hour drive and would cost you hundreds! Good luck. If worse comes to worse, have the resorts do it - it's not that expensive and they can handle delicate items also. |
