Default Sun decks on Oosterdam vs Nieuw Amsterdam

I was just looking at the deck plans for the Oo and NA, particularly at the sun decks, Lido, Observation, etc.

Is it my imagination or has the area with and number of sun loungers been reduced on the NA? Will be on her for 24 days in the Med in Aug/Sep this year and I'm not liking what I think I see! All those cabanas and spa staterooms seem to have gobbled a lot of space/view.

Anyone been on both to compare?

Donna

The N. Amsterdam actually has an additional deck above the Tamarind area, that only the Eurodam has. Yes some loungers disappeared from the Lido pool area, but more appear on the higher decks.

Pictures of the sister ship Eurodam.

Sun deck area above the Silk Den is under the three spheres:

As Peter's pictures point out, there are plenty of loungers available. Don't panic.

Many thanks to both of you. This puts my mind at ease. The deck plans didn't indicate any loungers on this upper deck although they are depicted on the other decks, and that's what caused my concern!

Again, thanks.

There are plenty of isolated places on the upper decks that people don't even know exist. Consequently, they are usually pretty empty and have an abundant supply of loungers. Take some time on Day One and explore the upper deck areas.

You'll find many areas that are somewhat isolated.

Am I right in thinking that there is no shade on the upper decks? Just returned from Collectors cruise. The cabanah deck looks attractive but the inclusion of some on the lido deck is a little annoying since they use up space which otherwise would be available - there is not too much available on sea days. Incidentally we have read complaints about the limited smoking restrictions previously which we have ignored. This time we suffered on our balcony and even on the promenade deck from other peoples smoke.
The spending of extra money for a verandah proved to be a bit of a waste. We are not spoilsports but what about the fire risk?
