Default Luggage distribution

CuRious...does anyone know how luggage is distributed? After you give to porters is it immediately taken to ship once the cart/rack is full and then does it get distributed after sail away? Or do they quickly start distributing it? If you get to the port earlier are you more likely
To get your luggage later since it would be at the bottom of the pile? Or once onboard does it get sorted by decks? Just wondering.

Yes to all of the above. Luggage is taken to the ship as the racks fill up. Once on the ship it is sorted and the distributed. Sometimes being early means you get it early and sometimes being early means you get it last.

I think it also depends on the port, too. In San Juan, we probably had our luggage waiting for us by our cabin by 2:30 in the afternoon. The reason for this is likely that since embarkation was so relaxed, those delivering the bags to the cabins could do it as it came in instead of totally being overwhelmed by the volume.

dont forget, that your luggage also gets screened for security purposes. If they find anything illegal, they will take it and leave a note

It really depends. Your luggage may be first to arrive with the porter, and be last on the ship. It could go through multiple steps where it is "top of the pile, bottom of the pile, top of the pile, ...". The cart/rack you see at the kerb/curb?? is not the mode of transportation that moves the luggage all the way to your cabin.

I don't think they carry it by hand from kerb to cabin anymore - ok, maybe on the luxury line they might do that, but not the lines I use. LOL. Here is a picture of how I have seen it moving from pier to ship recently, so they do aggregate units at different stages.
