Default Freedom of the Seas

Here's a video I put together of the ship (just in case any Aussies/Kiwis are considering sailing on her )

Note the lifeboat pods on the side, no tender boats. This is why she can't tender unless she's at a port that has catamarans that can come to the ship (I think this is an issue with Voyager as well which is why Voyager isn't doing any of the smaller South Pacific islands)

I'm working on a sightseeing one as well as a review (so busy!)

It is Bob, but I'm guessing there's catamarans they've hired to tender in. I couldn't figure out why Voyager had such chitty itineraries (south pacific, etc) until I went on the Freedom and noticed it didn't have tenders, then looked at Voyager and she is the same.

Maybe one of our resident Kiwi cruisers can chime in

None of Voyager's stays in our region were tender stops as it wasn't suited to them. In line with that, it didn't have any scheduled stops at Akaroa. All the stops in NZ near there are at Christchurch.

While Christchurch port isn't going to re-open this season, RCL haven't made an announcement regarding cruises scheduled to stop at Christchurch. Currently they still say they are docking there. It's likely they'll either change to another port where possible, or just make it an at sea day.

Thanks Deb - terrific video. Will be on Voyager end November and we were wondering whether it would go to Christchurch or Akaroa, will just have to wait and see!

I was just checking port schedules for our cruise (Voyager 19/2/2013) since reading about the tendering problem. She is supposed to be in Christchurch on 26/2 (read Akaroa) but there are 2 other ships there that day.

So I went looking and Napier port has Voyager scheduled for 25/2 which is a sea day at the moment so I'm thinking a change coming up.

The only thing is there are also 2 other ships there that day too, can Napier handle those numbers?

OMG Debs - I take it that you had an amazing holiday - the ship looks spectacular.

I'm hoping that you'll cave and join in the fun in November on board the Radiance again - a reunion cruise from last year!!!

Linda & John - where are you???

Thanks Deb for the info, we are cruising on the Voyager 24th Nov to NZ with Christchurch on the itinerary, so I just checked Napiers port schedule and sure enough the Voyager is booked in there for the 30th Nov, do'snt matter to us we loved Napier on our previous visits, and i'm sure we will find something interesting to see and do. Thanks Deb, really enjoyed your video. Brought back so many memories - it is a great ship. But 7 days is too short.
