The NO VA Gang is doing good.

Our 2/25 Roll Call Board is starting to pick up a little. Getting some responses but it is still too quiet for us.

We finally have cooled down to the high 80s. Feels like winter around here, LOL!!!

Hiya, Ralph!
We had terribly hot weather last week, in the 100's most days. On Thursday, a horrible storm came thru very fast with high winds and lots of rain in a very short time. It was like a hurricane. Very scary. Our neighborhood was without power for 29 hrs and without cable, internet or phone service for another 24. Garrett had bought a generator a yr ago, as when we do have power outages, they are often for long stretches of over 8 hrs. So, he came home and fired up the generator, but it could not power our A/C unit. Still, it was nice to have the lights, the paddle fans and keep the fridge and freezer going. He also ran a cord over to our neighbor's house to keep their fridge and freezer going. Luckily, we had no damage to our house, but a couple door's away, a tree uprooted and fell on the roof of the house. Lots of debris all over the neighborhood. The lawn & leaf companies are making a killing this week cleaning up. Garrett is busy with his chain saw, helping neighbors take care of tree limbs.

We have also had some weather woes. Four days of 100 - 104! Brutal! We also had a storm with high winds that sent a lot of trees crashing down and some people without power for almost a week. We were fortunate this time. We had a lot of branches down and Michael and to retrieve some lawn furniture from the bottom of the pool.

Glad your both okay and weather is a bit better. Same here.

Hiya, Deborah! Didn't realize you'd had the storms we were having. Ugh! I'm just glad Garrett was home and not out of town. Um, on second thought, I'd probably have gone to a hotel... People here were pretty civil the first day or two with the traffic lights out and doing 4-way stops, but after that, the civility ended. People on the "main" streets were taking like 4 turns at going thru, while drivers on the cross streets were on their own to try to take their turns.
Oh, you little groundhog catchers! Leave those critters alone now! You're upsetting the balance of nature. Maybe you're the reason we're having this weird weather.

WOW! That storm affected a lot of folks. We lucked out & only had a small tree break in half. Didn't lose power - thank goodness. But we had thousands in the area out of power for more than a week. And yes we had the 100+ degree weather also.

GH-4, HU-2, Garden (Oh well).
I think the rabbits have now sided with the groundhogs and are attacking my veggies. The garden seems doomed this year with the heat, lack of rain and the critters.

As for the balance of nature - heh, heh, heh, Nothing a shotgun can't fix!!

By the way Rick is having his gall bladder removed Friday.

Too bad about your garden, Ralph. This summer has been a tough one for crops. We joined a farm co-op this summer(our neighborhood doesn't allow gardens) and our veggies were slim pickings at first. But, now we're getting a nice selection. We're supposed to get corn this week. Yum! But, I'll have to cut Garrett's off the cob. He has braces now.

Hope all goes well with Rick's surgery.

Howdy Folks,

Just checking in. Getting ready for a week at the beach with all the kids & grandkids. Should be fun.

Freedom, have fun in Chicago. Hope the stormy weathy is gone when you are there.

It's been a hot & wild summer with more storms due today. Luckily we have survived without any damage or power outages - so far.

Rick survived his surgery & is doing good. He'll be out of commission a few more days.

Becki - saw another GH. Put out the trap & caught a raccoon. It was a teen and was very calm. It actually started moaning at me which I thought was amusing. When I opened the cage it walked out slowly & kept looking for something to eat. Meanwhile I'm ready to run as fast as I can, LOL. It just walked away slowly, no fuss. My nightmare is finding a skunk in the cage one day - AWWWWWW!

Miss all you guys. Someday we'll be on another cruise together.

Deborah, we visited some friends in NC this past weekend. I waved to you and Michael as we passed thru Mason yesterday on our way home. Didya see me? It was a test drive for our longer drive to FL in Nov. Garrett will be retired by then and I have to do something to keep him occupied.

Deborah, where in NC does your daughter live? We were near Boone. Our friends from Columbus recently moved to The Villages, which is b/t Ocala & Orlando and I've mapped it at just over 15hrs, so not too bad. We'll stop along the way. We're visiting our friends in The Villages for 10 days then go over to the Gulf for a week. So, by then, we should be ready to head home.

Your plans for Fl (not Ft. Lauderdale ) sound fun. Wish we had some friends in Fl to visit. Would love to retire there, but haven't a clue as to where!

Sheese it appears we are passing by each other on the highways. We were in Topsail, NC for the last 9 days!!!! Anyone taking 95 through VA should consider a quick reunion. When you see the exit for Manassas we are just 20 minutes away. Love to see some of you Buds.

We will be heading to New Bern, NC in September sometime to see our new grandaughter once she decides to make herself part of our family, LOL.

Sorry, Ralph, we'll be heading down I-75 on our trip to FL in Nov. But, I do know where Manassas is. I lived there after college with my mom for about a yr until we moved to Alexandria.

Just received this note from our Cruise Bud Joy.


"Just a quick note to let you know why you hadn't been hearing from me.....I suffered a Heart Attack/Pulmonary Failure/Pneumonia and was in the hospital from 7/29 until last evening. Had two more stents inserted (total of 7 now).
I AM NOW HOME. I know that you will be thinking of me and praying for me....I appreciate that more than you know. The Lord didn't want me this time so I am back to pester you."
