Decent underwater cameras, any suggestions?

Hi folks, is there anyone out there who can suggest a decent underwater camera? one thats not too expensive but one that actually takes recognisable fish pics . We've not had good results on previous cruises on the subject.

What depth? Are you diving or just putting the camera underwater? or are you taking photos from above the surface looking down at the water?

Just general snorkeling really :-) so we dont need anything too technical.
