I spent yesterday working the spcaLA's Kitten Palooza adoption fair. We placed 32, maybe 33, kittens and older cats. It was over half of the shelter population. It was a great day

Jean, that is great news especially regarding the older cats! As a woman I met at a feral cat group said they about our feral they "hit the kitty lottery!"

We went wine tasting today and met the nicest cat at one the wineries; they called him Charlie or Prince Charlie. He was so friendly and had really long legs for a feline.

Jimmy James, Acme Oyster just came up tonight at dinner and I am familiar with the Court of the Two Sisters; they supposedly have a wonderful Sunday brunch too.

My DH and l love the hospitality and warmth of the people in your part of the world and makes the whole experience extra special. Let me do a survey of my fellow cruisers and get back to you on the details.

Jimmy, your pictures are really great, I am enjoying them and I can't wait to go to NOLA, there is a place called Gormley in New Orleans, can you tell me what that is all about and is it worth visiting?

Do you all know where the next Olympics are? They are in Russia 2014 and then on to Rio for the 2016 Olympic

Morning All
Someone recommended Acme the last time we were down in NOLA. Said it was wonderful!!


Well didn't get the packing done, yesterday. Did, however get everything ready to pack, just have to put it all in the suitcase. Got the crate and everything ready to bring Ted E back and made sure that everything was ready for Cookie. Don't want the girls to run our of anything while we are gone. Still working with Cookie to get her to go through the doggie door. She does just fine, if we tape the door up, but when it is down, she won't go through unless we hold it for her. She has not grasp the concept yet, that all she has to do is push it with her head. Our neighbor told us that it took about a month before her pups figured it out. Others have told me that it only took thiers a couple of days. Guess we will be working on it when we get home. She is an older dog and her eyesight is not that great anymore. I am thinking that might have something to do with it. We will start working on Ted E while we are down there. Hopefully, since our friend's dogs use a doggie door, Ted E will pick it up quickly and then can teach Cookie, once we get him home. Fingers, Toes and Paws crossed.

Yes, tours are def on the list of "to do" things. Ghost Tour, Plantation Tour, Cemetery Tour, there are many vendors and tours to check out ~ but we do have a bit of time! I think we will not have such a rush for tours because we are staying after...

Never heard of Gormley, however there is football stadium in City Park named Tad Gormley.

Carol, I've been to two Olympics: LA and Calgary. So that's off my bucket list.

I don't really like many of the summer sports so not really watching. However, I did DVR the Opening Ceremonies and only seen a little bit of that. The results so far have been interesting!

Bonnie, have a safe journey! FYI, Miss Cookie might not ever get used to the door so you will have to be patient. But with Ted E she might just take his lead.

Janice, I like the winter Olympics better also, I lived in Montreal and we had the Summer Olympics then we moved to Calgary and along came the Winter Olympics and now we live on Vancouver and oh yes the Winter Olympics in Vancouver Island so I wonder where next in Canada are the Olympics going to be as I want to know where we will live next

Carol, I prefer warmer weather but I so love the events during the Winter Olympics! I really hate basketball, track and field, judo/wrestling, running etc. The synchronized swimming and gymnastics is interesting but not enough for me to watch. Calgary was so special!

and this mascot is one from the 1978 Montreal Olympics, you can see the M for Montreal above the 5 rings



but you know the one I like the best is Calgary's Mascots, Howdy & Hidy

We are heading out about 10 AM. Mike gets off at 9:30. That gives him a chance to get home, shower and change. I will have everything in the car and ready to go. I figure leaving that late, we will avoid all rush hour traffic. Might hit some between Medford, Oregon and Redding, California, but it should not be bad. Should be in Redding by 6 or so. Will stay with some friends there. We will also spend tomorrow with them, hopefully checking out things for the wedding. Will leave there about 6 am on Friday and reach Simi Valley by 2 PM. Long drive, but so worth it. With the exception of Bakersfield, CA, it is not a bad drive. Bakersfield is always doing something to I-5 and there is always a backup and a long wait. But it is the only drawback, for the most part.
I will try to check in during the week. Have a good one.
