I ( and I don't know how this happened but ) seem to be organizing some tours (I swear all I asked was if there was any one interested in sharing the cost and now they are joining me and some how or other I have become the leader - I don't do leading that well - remember I am a lurker not an organizer of tours - sorry had to get that off my chest).
When you go with RomeinLimo or Joe Banana and you become the leader (even though I didn't know I was going to be), do you have everyone pay up before the tour and then pay the driver as one person (one envelop), or do let everyone pay on their own and just pray that everyone shows up so you don't have to pay for any missing people? I don't mind sending emails but I don't want to be the one paying if someone else doesn't make the tour for whatever reason. The prices are usually for the car divided among the people showing up.
I would never miss a tour but I don't know if others sign up and never show up.
Do any one of you have any ideas about what I should do?
Thanks
Louise

If you have their cabin numbers now while things are being organised - if they are tardy about meeting you at the M&G you can chase them up by phone to their cabin. Good luck It is not too strenuous I am doing 9 on my 2013 cruise
I do it the same way as Yvonne.... just make sure you have all the cabin numbers and their last names, get them to send you an email with all the information. Last cruise I organised 6 tours and on the middle leg nearly everyone got upgraded and some forgot to inform me of their new cabin no. but because I had their first and last names it was easy to find out where they were moved to. I just rang up passenger services and they told me the new cabin no. or put me straight through.

Enjoy your full suite and cruise through the Panama, Sally. Hoping you recover well from your recent surgery. What did the surgery entail?

How did today's job interview go, Eileen.

Your extended cruise from NZ on Diamond Princess sounds wonderful.

Hope all goes well with the sale of your house.

Congratulations, Eileen! Is it a similar job in the same field, or different?

Did you tell them about your long holiday coming up?

What a great complement to you that you were offered the job, despite having six weeks' holiday planned (plus Clive's leave).

Just read in article in SMH "It's not just about money; trust, balance and enjoyment are key to reducing employee turnover".

Thanks Yvonne and Eileen.
I knew you would know what to do.
I had told my daughter that I should ask you because you organize a lot of the independent tours for your cruises.
I am going to have to share a cruise with you in the future. It is fun to do the research and chose what to do but this leading a group is a new idea for me.
Going to get some envelopes now.
Thanks once again.
Louise

Well done I had heard Fred Olson continued the original old P&O UK type of cruise but in smaller ships A friend did this with the Amazon and enthused for years about it.

As you can see from my cruise tickers, we've decided to book the Diamond for the Asia/Australia/New Zealand cruises in Nov. and Dec. 2013. Before the cruises start we'll visit our son in Singapore as that is where he's decided to do his sabbatical. The cruises total 39 days and we may fly directly from Auckland to our daughter's house in Cincinnati since it will be Christmas Eve when we arrive back in the States. Gift cards for everyone!!

One tricky part may be the fact we will be disembarking the Royal Princess on Oct. 27 then will need to get home, unpack, wash clothes, read mail, pay bills, repack and head on up to Cincinnati in our car for a short visit so we can leave our car there during the Australia cruises. All in about a week's time! When we get back to Cincinnati Christmas Eve, we can spend the holidays there and drive home when the weather is looking good. Winter weather is always iffy. Think she'll mind our car parked there for two months? I checked prices on flights to/from Cincinnati for this Nov. Dec. and it was as good as from Atlanta, plus we won't need to fly home to Atlanta and run right up there to Cincinnati to see the kids for Christmas. Saves some driving. Plus we'll already be exhausted from the long flights so probably won't feel like driving immediately.

My only worry is I will need a hairdresser during those two months. Would you ladies suggest the Diamond's hairdressers or one in a New Zealand or Australian port city?

Sounds like a wonderful cruise, Sandi. Looks like you and Eileen will both be cruising on Diamond Princess this summer, but at different times.

I would suggest you use a hairdresser in Australia or NZ they are usually very good and (no tipping) It may be an idea to go to the ports of call threads and ask for a recommendation in Auckland as the locals do read these threads and assist when they can I will also e mail a friend who lives reasonably locally to Auckland (met on a cruise) and ask them if they have any recommendations.

Sandi, that sounds awesome!

I just love the notion of having a week in between cruises to do laundry and re-group -- that's a killer way to get over post-cruise depression!!!
