Informem, I actually thought your review was quite good. In life nothing is perfect. There is always good and bad and I thought your review was well balanced and honest. It does sound like there were a lot of positives though, so I anxiously await our Aug 26 sailing! I'm happy to read your comments about Normandy. Last January we cruised on Eclipse and were disappointed with the new specialty menu in Murano. I'm happy to know that I can request old items with advance notice. Just out of curiosity, what did you have in Normandy the second night?
Thanks!
Tammy

Did you "pre-book" the Normandie and Qsine or when you boarded? Did they discount any of the $40 for the first night?
Thanks:

I booked the Normandie as we signed in because suites receive a complimentary dinner for two as being in a suite. This was another screw up, but Tim from Normandie and Jordan Bernstein from Qzine straighten it out. We book Qzine and normandie at the pool on Monday. They will come hawking the restaurants at the pool area.

Honesty is what I intended to accomplish. I hope others base their reviews on honestly. I guess sometimes honesty can get you in trouble, right Kendon...lol. My wife and I ordered the Surf and Turf and my mom ordered lobster tails. We were told if you don't want the cheese platters you can have 2 appetizers. The Chocolate souffle is a nice dessert.

I think it was the non-review (that started the thread) that was the issue. If there was any "issue". As I and another poster stated, when you actually got around to giving a review it was mostly positives and reassured rather than concerned me.

"Normandie - 6 on the first name - 10 on the second night we ate their. Ate their on Sunday and was extremely disappointed that the menu had changed and they never updated the Celebrity Website"
What had changed on the menu at Normandie that disappointed you?

Inforem, I enjoyed your thorough review. If the "thumb" icon had a so-so option, it would have suited your review a bit better than a total thumbs down. In the interest of not creating giant flames, I kept my review tame. Had I gone into the same type of detail, I would have given my cruise a 4 out of 10 as I thought the food and service were appalling. Perhaps there were staff issues that week, but overall a low quality cruise (IMO, mind you). The only things that kept my review from becoming a 1-3 was the entertainment. Glad I had a concierge balcony as that helped as well. You sound like a fair and reasonable traveler and wish you happy travels in the future!

So far you have confused me. You start by saying "if you have nothing nice to say ..." which seemed to set up for a total slam of a review.
Then you actually start your review. While more critical then I would be (as is your right), it didn't seem all that harsh.
I guess we have different definitions of humor.

No Surf and Turf or Broiled Lobster Tail. The Filet Mignon offered was 3 Petit (very petit) pieces of meat wrapped in a dough. The dessert were not good either. What I ordered was
3 filled dough balls with ice cream and a peach compote. At first the wrong dessert was brought out and then when i told the waiter that it wasn't what I ordered he then brought out 3 filled dough balls without the ice cream or compote.
The heirloom tomatoes with mozzerella were good. Lobster bisque not so good.

Humor, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If I would have totally slammed the cruise I would have expected more critical comments....
Humor, smile a little

Didn't make it to that show, but I did hear great reviews about his show. Was your room on the starboard side or port? The door slamming thing, was really only at the beginning of the day, and wasn't as bad towards the end of the cruise. It didn't ruin the overall cruise experience for us. The metal clanging sounds were from deck 5. They were refinishing the deck and cleaning. No idea why they were doing that at those times tho.

Sounds like you had a good cruise over all. So sorry you did not like "Dan the man". I rarely do suites, but I have had Dan twice now and thought he was great even though he was pretty ill the first time.
Do you happen to remember who the Capt. and Hotel Director were? Thanks.

I was on the same cruise exactly one year ago last year and wrote a fairly good review of my trip. This year we were relatively disappointed.
Like last years review I will base it on a 1-10 scale. 1 being pretty bad, 10 being excellent.
Room - Sky Suite 8127 Handicap Accessible. Room is a 10. Mom loved the big shower instead of a high bathtub. A/C worked perfectly. Did have a problem one morning with the toilet and they were nice enough to leave a message a day and a half later that it was fixed. DUH!!!! you would think we could have figured that out ourselves.
Butler - Last year we had Bart, this year we had Bart's complete opposite. Dan was the worse. Room service order screwed up. He brought half the order. He blamed the kitchen the kitchen blamed him. I didn't care who screwed up...just fix the problem. Suppose to receive fresh flowers and fruit, still had the same dead flowers from the first day and the same fruit from the first day. Never changed it. Cappucino or expresso everyday...where? He finally brought us a cup on Thursday. My wife asked for a Rummy-O game. Never came or never told us they didn't have one available. That is just the beginning with Dan.
Steward/Asst - 6- room was kept decent, but when we went in the room on Sunday morning, we had to clean up papers that were left on the dresser by the previous guest.
Normandie - 6 on the first name - 10 on the second night we ate their. Ate their on Sunday and was extremely disappointed that the menu had changed and they never updated the Celebrity Website. Service was decent, not like Gaspar from last year. When we mentioned that we were surprised with the new menu, Mr. Berstein (Matrie'D) told us that if we eat their again he will special order what we want from the old menu. We did, he did and we gave it a 10. The highlight is the water/bread girl "Nikolette" from Hungary, she is such a hard worker who is so personable that she is an asset to the Normandie. Little things like that can make your experience. She also works the Aqua Restaurant in the afternoon and is an asset their too. She remembered my mom and would speak to her like they were old friends. She was GREAT.
Qzine - 9 - Different. It is not hard to overeat and send back stuff because you are to full to eat it. Save room for dessert. We had the cupcakes and the "Cheesecake" Tini. Absolutely have the cupcakes, stay away from the "cheesecake" tini. It was more like a pudding than a cheesecake. The ending included chocolate strawberry lollipop.
Buffet - 8 - Food was good. Good variety. But the standout was another employee known as "Speedy Gonzales...beep beep". If he saw my mom or anyone for that matter with a tray he would run to them and take the tray and set it at an open table. Get you coffee or anything else you might want or forgot to get. He is another highlight.
MDR - Table 216 (late seating) 4th floor next to the statue and the stairs. Great location with great waiters. Ferdenand and Paoloa...or something close. They were so much better than last year. We only ate their 4 out of 7 nights, but it was good. Asked for 2 lobster tail, he brought 2 without having to ask again...
Entertainment - 9 - don't miss David Meyer (xylosynth) if he is there or Tim Cotter from Americas Got Talent. Cotter did a regular show and then did a late night show. Very funny man. Vote for him, he is good.
T-Pool 7. I am giving it a 5 because they closed it down all day Friday. Conflicting reasons as to why. One being a drunk passenger did something in the T-Pool so they had to close it down. This brings up the problem of plying drinks to guest without regard to possible outcomes. I realize that Celebrity on cares about the almighty $$$$$, but reallyif someone is drunk, cut them off. Why make the guest who might have wanted to use it suffer. As to the T-Pool another problem is kids who are in the pool with snorkels, goggles water wings and othe stuff. Hello....this is adults only. I don't blame the 5 year old who is in the pool with their mom, they can't read, but hopefully their parents can. And please parents don't argue with security when they ask you to leave. Don't go away made...just go away.
New Review, Guest Services - 1- they are so poorly trained that the same question asked to 3 people with get you 3 different answers, probably ALL WRONG.
Enough for now, I have unpacking to do. Any questions feel free to ask.

Hi!
While I know that opinions differ, I felt the need to comment. I was on the July 15 sailing of the Summit, also in Accessible Sky Suite 8127, and had an absolutely wonderful trip. We also had Dan as our butler, and although we did not ask much of him, whatever we did ask was done promptly. We ate most of our meals in Blu, which was wonderful, however we did have one breakfast from room service, which was delivered as requested, as well as one dinner each in Normandie and Qsine, which were both great, although, I am not sure I would do Qsine again with only one other person, as there was too much food and too much of it was fried. We also had lunch at Bistro on Five one afternoon, which was delicious and well worth the $5 cover and brunch in the Cosmopolitan Dining Room on the last sea day, which was delicious as well. Being physically challenged, I found all of my needs met and exceeded in true Celebrity fashion and I thought the ship looked great after her Solsticization. Again, this is just one person's opinion, but I thought I would share my thoughts.
Regards,
Dean

But you did go on to post a detailed review wherein you did say many positive things about many aspects of your cruise experience on Summit. The only reason to start a thread with such a negative, exaggerated claim is to aggravate other cruisers and get attention....which you certainly did.
I am not questioning or disputing that your experience was not 100% positive but it does sound like you and your family found much to your liking. Why post such a distorted view at the outset .

I was on the port side in Bermuda, right over where the passengers board. I guess Dan is a good butler, never asked for much but expected to get what I was suppose to get. I shouldn't have to ask for fresh flowers or fruit.
My humor did get attention, so it worked.

I do not find it humorous to start a thread that basically slams an entire ship just to get attention. This only adds to the negative image some seem to hanpve of the Summit. The great majority of us on CC are interested in honest opinions of your cruise experience and would have paid attention to your review without the dramatics and misleading posts.

I totally agree with your first sentence but not the second. The negative image I get, is of CC and the OPs desire for attention.
It doesn't harm my image of the Summit since the actual complaints spelled out are not severe and somewhat overblown.

It is truly sad when someone craves that sort of attention, but it doesn't change my image of the ship, just the OP.
