We are sailing from Southhampton to Ft. Lauderdale on Nov. 3, 2012 and would like to know from those that have sailed in this cabin if there were issues with smoke, excessive noise or vibrations. We are looking forward to breakfast in Sabatinis..

You might want to post your question on this thread too. Check out the fantastic pdf that DCT61 did of the room layout ... WOW.

I was in this suite on the Golden which is the Grand's sister ship so my experience should be similar to what yours will be.
The suite is considerably smaller than the other window suites with a rather inconveniently narrow corridor from the lobby and bathroom through to the room - it could be awkward to get past someone sitting at the desk. You might find it a bit smaller than you are expecting for the price of a suite. Also the nearest laundrette is down a deck and quite a walk away (that may not be of concern to you but I choose never to use the ship's laundry service even tho' I'm elite). Other than that, I thought that everything about the suite was delightful, especially the two huge windows close to the water line, you really get a sense of being on a ship. The suites are off on a separate corridor by themselves so they are very quiet and I never had any problem with smoke or vibration - you might smell a little smoke if someone props open the door out to the rest of the deck but it's a fire door, it shouldn't be propped open, you can always close it. The location is excellent, very close to everything. I have to admit tho' that I was traveling solo and this was an unexpected upgrade at the pier from an obstructed OV so my perceptions were maybe a little skewed by this ... PS I only went to breakfast in Sabatini's once - my order took forever (I think they forgot about me) and I was generally disappointed with it so I never went back, I don't have time to take an hour for breakfast. We were in room 311 on the Golden which was at the opposite end. However, several times we came back from the Princess Theater and entered the hallway down by room 301. On our cruise the hallway door was ALWAYS open. We could smell a little smoke in the hallway but frankly I doubt anyone in the room could smell it. Also, if you see the door open you could always close it. If I had known it was a fire door I would have closed it myself.

Although reports from the Golden and the Caribbean will be helpful, on those ships on the other side adjacent to the Window Suited is a corridor from the Crown Grill to the aft stairs/elevators while on the Grand, it is the Casino.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We had a Window Suite on Grand Princess in Feb. Loved this cabin. Wonderful location, did not hear any noise at all. No vibration or smoke from casino. Quietest cabin I think we ever had on a cruise ship. Loved all the perks which came with the cabin! Wonderful cabin steward he took great care of us. Enjoy your cruise. In the window suites, do the windows actually open at all or are they there just for the view?

Thanks for the photos. Looks like one of the larger cabins because I heard there is no cabinet under the windows in F301. Lovely pictures!

Thank you. I didn't think they would, but was hoping. I have asthma so having fresh air/airing out the cabin after cleaning (some of the cleaning solutions really smell) is a must for us.
The window suites do really look nice.

Can anyone confirm that if you booked your Window Suite before the middle of July, there is unlimited Internet for free?

My family and I just off the Golden Princess (Alaska) and were in F301. The noise level isn't too bad. You can hear folks walking/running on Deck 7 and you don't notice the smoke as long as the water tight door just outside your door stays shut. We had an experience one night where that wasn't the case and my mom became sick for a while. We summoned the Night Manager who was somewhat helpful and mentioned the water tight door needing to stay shut. He also sent someone to spray air freshener in the hallway. Overall we had a great experience with our suite though. The internet is free as long as you book before July as indicated in previous posts. The views were wonderful and according to my parents who are advid sailors better than the view from a balcony room. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Thanks for the responses. I knew the policy for free Internet if booked before July 15 isunlimited and free, but there are so many different answers from Princess customer service, so getting confirmation from a cruiser is great.

I will add to the great post my son (MikeyTo) posted earlier. There were 3 of us in Suite 301 and our son uses a wheelchair. The only time we felt crowded was at night when the couch was made in to the bed and even then it wasn't that bad.
As doors were open on the hallway to the other suites I could see they were larger than our suite and layed out differently. We loved our suite, but the one night I did get quite sick from the smell coming from Players Lounge. The Night Manager told the employees to be sure the doors were kept shut and we always made sure the fire doors were shut. I loved the location of these suites; so fast to get to International Cafe, Crowne Grill and all the fun on deck 7. The bathroom is huge and so nicely appointed. The free laundry was a great perk that we used two times. When I logged in the internet for the first time it stated our usage was free. I love flowers so it was nice to have fresh flowers in the suite by the desk and also a lovely rose in a vase in the bathroom. We thought we were special having a corsage for the first formal night. Did I miss a balcony; not much since our weather wasn't the greatest. If we were in the Caribbean I would maybe miss a balcony, but then I'd use the Sanctuary I guess. I loved how close you are to the water with the huge windows; one day hubby and I were sitting looking out the window and right by our window swam 3 killer whales!!! Next time I'd choose a suite further up the hallway to stay away from the cigarette fumes. Yes, we heard joggers but it never was that much of a bother. Hope this helps!

Csaeroach didn't know you were in a window suite on our cruise, would have been nice to have met you. We were given a tour of the window suites on the Grand and would have prefered it over our Grand Suite, lots of very early in the am above us. Great location-you will be happy with your choice. There is a seperate(nice) hallway with big doors on each end and they keep the smoke out. The jacuzzi tub is nicer in the window suite than the other suites. Have heard maybe some walkers above you.
Enjoy the Grand! |
