How to spend 1200$ in nine days ?
Hello,
We took advantage of the recent Christmas in July offer, and booked a christmas cruise which gave us 1200$ credit onboard. On a cruise ship where most things are included, how would you spend 1200$ in nine days ?
I know, some people really have BIG issues...

spa treatments (daily massage for example), high table wine dinners in Prime C, dom perignon champagne every night, napoleon brandy night caps, over priced tee shirts and stuff, last minute shore excursions (not the half off prepaid ones), buying a few rounds at the bar, over tipping the staff. if you don't drink it will require more effort. like you implied, we should all have your problem!

Doesn't have to be a useless piece, but that could definitely spend the credit in one shot!

I'm having brain fade. Can you draw out cash at the casino against non-refundable OBCs (subject to the 5% cash fee)?

Sell it.
pay other peoples bills and get cash back or just be generous.
having said that we were on a 13night TA with only a 1/2day stop and struggled to spend $250, I guess if we had gone off menu with wine beer etc a bit more we could have hit $500 or more with some extra spa.
How about some generous gratuities I am sure they can fix that so you "spend" the money that way.

The premium beverage packages and paying your gratuity with OBC would use up more than half. Add a couple of specialty dinners, Shore excursions and spa/salon. visits and it will be gone. You should look into whether you have refundable OBC or not.

The issue for the OP as far as the premium beverage package and mentioned in the first post is with the inclusive wine it's not worth it. I have looked at the beverage package price before and there's no way I could do it justice, even as a Martini drinker. I wonder how many they actually sell on the ship.
My question remains. Can you take cash out of the casino with the 5% charge against non-refundable OBC?
Phil

You certainly could not on Journey take cash out of the casino against shareholder credity which is a type of non refundable credit - I think your question is a very pertinant one Phil!

If the obc is from the cruise line themselves I do not believe that you can use the non-refundable obc for any of the following:
1. gratuities
2. casino
3. crew welfare fund
Since you wish to upgrade your stateroom perhaps that would be possible. This is something you would have to inquire about at the Guest Relations Desk I would assume. However if you were already receiving an offer, such as book an oceanview and obtain a veranda I doubt that your obc would cover an additional upgrade.
The obc can be used for shore excursions booked while onboard, not those booked in advance online.
This has been my experience in the past; hope this is still relevant.
If you find out differently, perhaps you can post when you return and let us know.
Thanks.

Thanks for confirming what was at the back of my mind. A visit to the shops toward the end of the cruise may be on the cards.

The good news if you are in any doubt is that Azamara make it all very clear for you. About a day into your cruise you get a note delivered to your room explaining how much of your credit is refundable, how much is not and if it is not, the restrictions on using it (ie no casino advances)
A few days before the end of the cruise you get an updated set of information
Azamara also draw down your non refundable credit ahead of your refundable credit which was certainly not the case some years ago with Celebrity.
If the OP is not in a suite they could also splash out on a pass for the quiet spa deck for the cruise that is around $200 a couple

Thank you Ann. Good information. I like the spa deck and it has been very quiet on the two cruises I have used it. Very private with lemon/grapefruit iced water always available. The Thelassotherapy Pool there is very nice too and a more attractive proposition to me because it isn't heavily used. I've been in the ones on Celebrity and have picked up nasty ear infections each time I used them.

Take very little luggage and buy your wardrobe in the shops. Nice new watch etc.
Never do your own laundry -send it all out, and take everything home clean!
Buy a very nice "memory" photo on board.
Spa and massage everyday.
Buy little things in the gift shop - ie chocolate bars for day trips and for the return time at the airport.
I could spend that very easy if it were me!!
