Thanks goodnes for that( At least Isaac is not at the strength Katrina was.) We evacuated for Katrina. We returned home to 4 feet water that was in the house. Backyard a mess, fallen trees, etc. Had no electricty for 2 weeks.

Had to rebuild, not fun. Use garage as kitchen/living room. So far, we planning on staying for this one, unless it gets stronger.

Thanks, it's really weird since info seems to change hourly. Our weather is suppose to begin to get worse later today and into tomorrow. We have clear everything that can be an issue in the yard, Doms boat is tied down and safe and I did shopping. Expect things to be better by late tuesday unless the storm slows down....RNC has shut down until Tues and schools have been closed....Linda

Jimmy James, was the initial warning you received about Katrina downplayed? I just read an article that suggested that...be safe and keep us posted.

Linda, so what is the definition of "South Florida"...curious since I think of it as being Florida Keys to Palm Beach or Hollywood and being on the right hand side of your state.

Hi Janice, Mary did not want to stay at the Embassy because it is over a mile to the FQ and it was Jimmy James that said it was quite far and Mary and I thought if we stayed there it was ok to walk to the FQ but after walking around and drinking it would be kind of far to walk back

I do know what the Embassy has as freebees as we will be staying in the Embassy in Boston 2 months from today and I can't wait

If you look up how far Embassy Suites is from the FQ it is 1.2 miles

Jance, yes that is South East but you also have in the South places like Naples and Fort Myers they are in the South West and many others

Carol, distance is all relative and actually GOOGLE Maps has the ability to check distances via car, public transportation, walking etc. So it is a under a mile. We found walking after meals/drinks was refreshing and of course it all depends on the individuals, health, etc.There are pros and cons to staying in the FQ since some people that I know said that they couldn't sleep because people party 24/7...

Janice, Parties don't bother me as I like noise and after a few drinks I would not want to walk too far

I just want to hear about the hotels all you guys stay at and I still may do priceline for NOLA not sure yet

Carol, I need quiet to get to sleep...any kind of noise when I am trying to get to sleep prevents me from getting to sleep. Once I am asleep I am out but getting there is the trick...I don't know how men can put their heads on the pillows and then are totally asleep...drives me nuts.

I have been trying to do Priceline for one-night in Seattle as we already have two nights paid but not been successful.

Janice, when we go up the night before a flight to Seattle, we stay at the Seatac Comfort Inn. It is nice and clean. Comfortable and they have a shuttle to and from the airport. There is a resturant or two across the street, but we like to go to a place that is about two blocks away. Can't remember the name, but if your interested, I can find it out. Are you sailing out of Seattle or flying out? If you are flying out, then that is a nice place to stay, although there really is not much to do around there without driving. If you are sailing out, then look at the Inn At The Market.
It isn't far from the port and across the street from Pike Street Market. It is also up the hill from the waterfront with quite a bit to see and do. We have never stayed there, but have been told that it is very nice.

Hi, Janice! Just wanted to tell you that the Trip Advisor reviews of Hotel Le Marais are saying that, despite its proximity to Bourbon Street, they found it very quiet for sleeping. I also find this very appealing, thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to check it out.

A few years back, we stayed in a hotel in Miami beach which was a long walk from where we wanted to be in South Beach. The next time we went, I searched reviews for a hotel that was reviewed as being quiet and found Hotel Astor, which is two blocks off Ocean Drive. Very peaceful nights sleep, and we did not have long walks to everything. Not that we don't like walking, we walk every day. But it is best for us to have our "home" as close to our favorite attraction as possible. Back problems can come and go, so we need to be prepared when they "come".
