Yeah I never see Sabretts here in the stores, so i usually buy Nathan's or Hebrew National if I feel the need for a hot dog. But those Sabrett carts are so WONDERFUL. I'd rather have that than filet mignon.

haha, I feel like hot dogs may be just a touch too informal. Plus we are doing that kind of food on Friday.

Why are you back to drawing board for reception sites?
I know a few places in Manhattan - a tad nicer than Nathans. A tad more expensive too. Good luck. Our Slovak dinner was a success (no body shots though). Their sheep cheese is something else. I ordered it from NY (besides some I smuggled in). I just ordered some shot glasses today. I don't know who I am. But they do it classy style - just one shot before dinner as a toast. I'll be incorporating into my family dinners and holidays. Also will incorporate Bryndza Halusky. This eve we are making a mushroom soup we had in Slovakia ... smoking the chicken now. Besides a challenging translation, they didn't provide quantities. This might take me a month of Sundays. So when I say we are "making" it, I mean we are experimenting. It uses sauerkraut juice. As soon as I tasted it ... I was begging for the recipe. They use a combination of fresh and rehydrated mushrooms - it was amazing. Lets see if I can even get close. We've had, quite possibly, the most perfect weather ever this weekend. 70ish, clear skies, puffy clouds ... Americas Cup, Fleet Week + Blue Angels, 49ers game, Giants game, Bluegrass Festival ... not a hotel room to be had. Next year, I'm going on vacation and renting my house. I was a home body ... nursing some allergies, doing pilates, farmers market and cataloging photos from our trip. I'm still up for Austin, BTW. Just harvested more tomatoes and peppers. It seems that even if you ignore them completely ... some of them hang in there. That's all from Posse west. Love, me |

COREO any friend of (any) cheese is a friend of mine!
Almost anything can be improved by the addition of chocolate or cheese as they ARE 2 of the 3 basic food groups (really good bread being the 3rd). |

Our mushroom soup this eve - while not quite what we experienced in Slovakia - it ROCKS! It is only missing bread. |

My favorite drinks don't use the liquid nitrogen but I did try one of almost everything on the menu. I agree it's for show. And sometimes sitting there waiting for it to stop steaming was a nuisance to the point where I thought... they could leave it out. BUt my GOSH when you read the article... exploding stomach!?! I was concerned I'd burn my mouth!

That's a weight loss plan I wouldn't want to try. I really feel sorry for the girl, who was out celebrating her 18th birthday.

I was surprised to learn you could live without a stomach. I would have thought that was kind of essential to life.

I'll choose the liquid nitrogen I guess. Over the cockroaches I mean.

Okay. I'm in for the LN too. But if I had to go, I think Death by Chocolate would be my choice.

The article says the "winner" of roach eating contest.
Remind me not to win anything. Also ... who remembers this?

What ever happened to Lisa Loring (aka Wednesday Addams)? She was raised by an alcoholic mother who died when Lisa was in her teens.
She was in a soap opera (As the World Turns). She married a porn star (Jerry Butler) and then a soap opera actor (Doug Stevenson). She had a heroin addiction and is now a school bus driver (oh great) in Oregon. I know I'm very uptight and old fashioned, but I don't want a porn star marrying, heroin addict (current OR former) being a SCHOOL bus driver. Regular bus driver... maybe that wouldn't bother me. I know, I know I need to be more forgiving. |
