Best board game(s) to bring on a cruise? That's easy....the one(s) you enjoy playing the most!

The same plus Yatzy. All three small enough to fit anywhere

We also carry two pencils and a small notepad. We play "Name All..." a lot.
(All 50 states, all countries in Africa, all Shakespeare's plays, all RCCL ships... that kind of stuff )

Anyone remember Jotto?
That was fun. Haven't thought of that in years but we used to really enjoy playing it.

We became addicted to APPLES TO APPLES on our last Freedom of the Seas cruise.

Enjoyed and play it when we have friends over a great way to get the conversatiion going again.

Safe travels

We enjoy board games and often bring some small ones along on trips (cruise or otherwise). You've named quite a few I don't know, so as soon as I type this, I'm going to have to go investigate what my kids might be getting in their Christmas stockings.

One of our family favorites that hasn't been mentioned: Banana-grams. It's like Scrabble, but everyone plays at once, and kids with a small vocabulary aren't at a disadvantage.

Do note that the ship has a game room with some standard games.

Keep in mind that most of the ones that have been named cannot be purchased at your typical store. You'll have to either order them from online or go to a local gaming store (the kind that sells Dungeons and Dragons).

Default the game of set

we love the game "Set" it is a thinking game that is cards so it is easy to pack next to a deck of regular cards. Have to find cards that have all the same attribute or all different attribute (shape, color, shading and number) so there are lots of combinations and it can be played alone or with 2, 3, or more players. Happy gaming/cruising

I'm really surprised no one has mentioned "Battleship". And for those that like the game "Clue", there is a version called "Clue At Sea". The murder mystery takes place on a luxury yacht.

I'm having no trouble finding them on Amazon and Ebay.

Another favorite in our family: Scrabble Flash. It's an electronic game and not quite like traditional Scrabble. I highly recommend it.

As I said... you'll have to order them from online.

Banagrams is fun but heavy.

Just a deck of cards for us. Maybe 'Phase10' or 'May I?'
May I? is similar to Phase 10 but played with 2 regular decks and if you want a card out of turn you can get it but have to take an extra card as penalty.

We're going new school for games. We just got a tablet - 10 inch. So far we have chess, checkers, a puzzle type game and a version of UpWords. We have a travel Scrabble game we used to take with us but it takes up a lot of room. Now we can have multiple games on a much smaller platform.

I would choose card games that come in small packages. Five Crowns, Skip-Bo, Phase 10, and Quiddler are our favorites. Farkel is a dice game that is in small container. Mexican Train (dominoes) is a lot of fun but could get heavy. Trivia Pursuit and Sequence are fun. We love game night.

I think that's key. I'd also say that if you purchase a game to play on the ship, that you try it out at home first so you know how to play it - how complicated it is, how to explain the rules, how to repack it, etc.
