Just a reminder about the risk of DVT after long flights (or long car trips).

A friend, who recently returned from a long haul flight, was lucky her doctor recognised her systems, as her situation was very serious. Fortunately, on medication, she is making a good recovery.

BTW We wear compression socks, which help, on long flights.

There is no way to know what side of the canal you will use. I have had it vary each trip.

David...... you must have sailed out of Auckland on Princess before.

What are you able to take onboard in regards to drink? In Fort Lauderdale you can take anything, in fact, we took 2 cases of beer, 2 cases of Lipton green tea, 4 ltrs Cranberry juice, 6 bottles of wine on our cruise in April.

Princess Australia is anal about what you can take onboard (nothing but a bottle of wine each) but seeing as this is the Diamond and sailing out of Auckland I was wondering if you have ever taken anything more than a bottle of wine each?

We are also on Diamond this year I wonder what they are doing for the next 14 months The damage to the VP&O Ventura which is a sister ship which happened today athough the ships are built by a different ship yard may be something to do with it

Yes, I wonder, as I would have thought that annual Diamond Princess circle Asian route was popular. Maybe it is not as easy to sell as it was in the past. Or maybe they have another ship in mind.

I have finally booked Ocean Princess, departing Singapore on 13th November for 20 days' cruise to Sydney.

My daughter will be flying in style with Singapore Airlines from JFK to Singapore, whilst I'll be trying the new budget airlines, Scoot Airlines (owned by Singapore Airlines) from Coolangatta to Singapore.

It is owned by Singapore Airlines so don't think there will be any financial problems, like your ill fated Air Australia.

I just spoke with a friend who said one of the nuns in her Order has flown on SCOOT to Singapore and she said it was fine.

Princess hasn't heard of them though, as SCOOT wasn't on their list of airlines.

DON'T mention Jetstar For my Bangkok cruise I had booked SYD-MEL-BKK as this was the only way we could go and the wait in MEL was not too bad tieme for breakfast We would arrive in BKK at 8pm not toooooo bad.

On the rollcall for this cruise someone mentioned that their flight SYD-MEL-BKK had been cancelled and they had been put on one an hour later still being ok for the changeover in MEL. Their flight was my flight so I had not heard anything but p[honed my TA. She said her site said everything OK I replied I was not happy with that could you physically speak with a Jetstar person and see what is the situation. She phoned back and said the fligh was cancelled and they had put me on one 1.5 hours earlier. This one - because we live in rural area - means I would have to leave home at 4am and hang around the airport before check in for about 3.5 hours - nothing in between I asked why I could not be put on the 10.30 one that the other cruiser had been changed to and was given some rig maroll about they an only move you one flight ion either direction The other flight would be via MEL and Singapore and would not get in until 10pm I do not understand this as the other person got that flight I am still waiting for them to come back to me as I asked them to try again.

Stand your ground, Yvonne, and get on that later flight. Sometimes they try to book you on an inconvenient flight time because of your airline booking code. However, this is the airline's fault, not yours, so Jetstar should book you on any available seat on the later flight, like the other cruiser.

Trouble is as I booked through Flightcentre I have to go through them again and if they do not insist I am stuffed

Not exactly. Do a dummy booking on Jetstar to find out if the flight is full. If seats are available on the flight you wish to be on, go back to Flight Centre and insist they transfer your booking to that flight.

If the flight is full, you can ask to be put on standby, because you aren't flying until the end of November and vacancies will occur in the meantime.

Even if you have to pay extra, it would be worth it in the long run.

Next time book direct with the airline you are wanting to fly with..... saves you money and hassles!
