Question Renaissance Day pass 411

Folks,
Have any of you got the Renaissance All Inclusive day opass lately? Is it still $75? Also how many of you tried to get the day pass and were turned away due to the facility being booked over the 90% mark? I would love to go hear, but folks say you should have a back up plan so was curious as to recent cruisers and their success factor. Also did you feel it was worth it? Have fun, good food, pool, beach, flamingo's etc?? Thanks so much, Lydia of Ohio

We were there in march of this year. It was totally worth it. Two beach areas one just for adults. The flamingos are on the adult beach just walking around. Lunch is included and it was very good. It is so peaceful there. You can also get a float to use. There is a trail u can walk on but we did. It do the trail. We also did not use the pool.oh there is lots of fish too if you like to snorkel.i saw a barracuda. We had a great day there. Yes is was 75.00 a person.

I have no personal experience but would venture to say that the chances of being at 90% occupancy are much better during the high season, more so over Christmas and New Years. Most, if not all Aruba resorts sell out from December 26 - January 2.

Also during Carnival, the height of winter in most of the U.S. occupancies will be higher. The Renaissance is the most centrally located resort for anyone wishing to attend Aruba for the Grand Carnival parade which will be February 10, 2013.

I had just enquired a couple days ago about the day pass. Here is their email reply:

----------

Thank you for contacting Marriott. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with information.

The Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino does sell day passes to the private island. The cost per person to visit the island is $75.00 US dollars. The cost includes a full day at the island, lunch at Papagayo restaurant and use of non-motorized water sports, provided by Red Sail Sports. The hotel does not sell passes in advance and only sells a limited amount per day based upon hotel occupancy. Please contact the front desk to purchase your passes when you arrive.

------------------

I suppose you could call them a few days before you leave for your cruise to see how booked they are that day. It might give you a heads up on your chances for getting a day pass or not.

I have a couple questions...

Were there lots of flamingos? The videos i've seen makes it seem like there's only half a dozen or so there. I have also seen a video where people were feeding the flamingos. Do you know if they were selling food for them there or these people just brought their own?

Also, regarding snorkeling, where abouts did you end up snorkeling? It doesn't seem like there would be much snorkeling in the 2 beach lagoon areas because of the breakwater. I would really like to be able to snorkel while we are there.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

When we there in the spring of this year, we saw about 7 flamingos....they used to have more, not sure why the are less. But it is cool as they just wander around....we did not feed them.....as for snorkeling.....yes ther are lots of fish....no coral....they have gigantic boulders out in the lagoon and that is were the fish are. I also saw a large barracuda.. The fish were very pretty ....we had a great day there....and the food at the bar was really good.....so we're the drinks....

thanks for the info. Did you have to go on the far side of the boulders (outside of the lagoon) to see the fish? I have read that the water gets kind of rough outside the lagoon since it's open ocean at that point.

Most coral is so beat up by visitors that it's not a big shame if we don't see any. The fish are what i snorkel for

I've seen a video of the shuttle boat that takes you out to the island. How stable is that thing getting in and out of it?

It's been a few years since I was there, but we stayed for a week at the Renaissance. I took the shuttle boat just about every day out to the private island - it was very stable.

The island is a great relaxing day. We saw some very large iguanas as well as the flamingos.

We stayed inside the boulders when we snorkled......never went into the open ocean....the boat was very stable. Not trouble getting in or out.....

We will be in Aruba Feb7, does that mean we will be there during Carnival and have less of a chance for a day pass? Also, do they rent snorkel equipment there or did you bring your own?

Yes they rent snorkle stuff. You get one free thing with your day pass. Don't know about the other.

Has anyone gotten a day pass here lately? My cruise is getting close and this looks interesting. Haven't seen any posts about day passes in a while.

Actually, I just called and was assured by the front desk that the $75/pp day pass including Island, lunch and one sport was available. Will confirm on our return!

We will be in Aruba in March and are interested in the day pass also. Do you have any contact information for the Renasissance? Also can you walk from the cruise port?
Thanks
