WiFi on the Grand??

Just wanted to have any feedback on the WiFi connection on the Grand. Have
family members going to Alaska on the Grand in early Sept. and they wanted
to know how good the Wifi package would be to purchase. School class work
needs to be accessed. Many thanks for any information or input. John

Wifi is available on all Princess ships in the cabins and most public spaces.

It is via satelite and very slow. The most common analogy is to the old dial up.

It is expensive. The cost ranges from 75 cents per minute if you just want to pay by the minute. To as low as about 30 cents per minute for the largest package.

When we were in Alaska, there was no connectivity in Glacier Bay or in Victoria.

I would add that connectivity is highly variable with weather and fellow passenger usage being the two biggest impacts, and the least controllable. Be prepared to access at odd hours if you must have access.

I was just on the Grand with my daughter and she was able access wifi from out cabin on her iphone. I was having trouble connecting with my lap top so I just went to the internet cafe. I don't think the problem with my lap top was the wifi though, I think the problem was me. I think I just wasn't logging in correctly. I'm just not all that computer literate. If I had asked my daughter for help she probably could have done it.

The connection is often slow. We have always been able to connect in the cabin on the Grand.

We used the Wifi on the Grand when we were on her back in Dec 2011. Seemed to work just as well as other Princess ships we have been on. It is slow and can be sometimes spotty. Keep in mind that if you are going to Alaska, you will have cell/internet access through a phone or ipad while in port same as you have it now. I found that accessing the internet while in port through cell service on my ipad was much better than using the ships.
