Default RCL Dining Room Seating with kids?

We are sailing on RCL in a few weeks with our two children, ages 6 and 18 months. How does RCL do seating arrangements in the Main Dining Room for families? Will we be assigned possibly to sit with others? Or will be assigned a table for 4?
In the past on CCL and Disney we were seated at a table for 4, but we have not sailed with RCL since having children.

Thanks for Any info you can provide!

It depends. I have been seated at a table with other families (a table for 8) and I have been seated at our own table for 4 on RCL.

When you board - you can go to the MDR and check out your table. If it's not for 4 - ask to be moved

The MDR on day one is filled with people doing just that.

When I called for something else, the rep asked what size table we wanted. We are traveling with another family and wanted to just be the 8 of us, so that was great! I guess she made note on the reservations that are linked.

Yes on the reservation - they can select table size. It is an actual number. But that doesn't mean once that number gets to the ship that the dining room WILL honor it.

Check your table once you board.

An "8 top" traveling with two families will probably be honored - no problem.

It's the smaller table requests that seem to get lost.

Default seating for 9

We were 4 adults and 5 kids (ages 4,4,4,4,6) on the Allure of the Seas in November 2011 and FOTS in December 2012. We had a table for 10 - the same table - to ourselves for each cruise. The only complaint was that the second MDR set-up (on the FOTS) was an oval shape so we felt like we had to yell to talk to the other adults/kids at the other end of the table. Also, they didn't put 'families' together, so some poor adults (tables of 2 and 4) had to listen/watch the kids.

Talk to your TA or RCL about what kind of set-up you would like prior to sailing. We chose 5;30 p.m. each night prior to embarkation.

Also, after the first night, the waiter and his assistant knew what our requirements were re: kids appetizers, mains and desserts. Made it much easier the next six nights.

Hope this helps.
