I'm thinking about getting some RRs for our crusie in March.. Has anyone used them on NCL recently out of Miami?

As a side note, I didn't know liquor wasn't allowed and on my last cruise a few years ago, I got one of those big bottles (plastic) of Vodka on thru my checked luggage, I guess that was just luck!

I have used Daisani water bottles for several years with no problems and they are a lot stronger than the rum runners.

Rum runners are collapsible containers to smuggle alcohol on board in your luggage if needed. They either work great or security just doesn't check luggage very thoroughly. Supposedly do not show up on X-ray. We have used them quite a few times.

We love our rum runners and use them every cruise. As a matter of fact just ordered a new set cause the old ones were beat up. They have never leaked but no need to chance it. We put the small ones in out pockets (cargo shorts) as the metal detectors do not pick them up, and well we are a redneck couple (good ole southern men) so we pack our cowboy boots. We always place the large rum runners in the boots in our checked luggage.

Cool

Never had a problem with RR's. Have used the "water bottle" trick in a couple of ports too - and that was fine.

Hopefully with Princess' new crack down on confiscating and destroying liquor, the RRs will still sail through!

I actually use a couple RR's for carrying mouthwash in my checked baggage. I trust them as they won't leak.

A switch on putting whiskey into a mouthwash bottle.

My other secrets I keep to myself.

I have been using Rum Runner products on cruise ships (mostly Princess) for 6 or 7 years. I only bring enough for one drink a night in my room while getting ready for dinner. Never have I been caught. Prior to using the rum runners, always brought a small bottle, and again, was never caught. Not so on a recent trip on the Oasis of the Seas (RCI). Was asked to go to the luggage hold after boarding. Crew was nice and when I explained that it was merely white wine in one bag they let me go....with the bag of wine. It may be the newer detection systems on the RCCI ship, as I have never been asked or stopped on Princess. I just wish you could buy a bottle, even at the ships prices, on board to keep in your room.

I don't understand why this post is on the "gay and lesbian forum". You might get a better response elsewhere.

Now if you were to ask about the dangers of smuggling XTC onboard, etc., that would belong on this forum.

You know, these "how much booze can I sneak onboard?" conversations have been ongoing on CC for years.

Now, we know for a fact that somebody at Princess, at least, reads at least some of these boards. And that over the past year Princess has really tightened its rules. So a qualified thanks goes out to those of you who've loudly flouted the rules. I'm not saying that there's necessarily a cause and effect, but...

Next up? Discussions of how to smoke weed onboard without getting busted?

We are sailing out of NOLA soon and bought some rum runners, the plan is to pack them in our checked suitcases rolled up in jeans, inside boots, toiletry bags, etc. I am also debating putting one in my carry-on bag in my make-up bag b/c its so full of crap with small tops I can't imagine they could see it.

I guess we will see what happens, life on the edge right haha!

Default RR on Princess

On a Princess Cruise last April, I placed four RRs in baggage that I checked with porter on pier. None were confiscated. During the 25-day cruise, l chatted with many passengers who packed RR and none were confiscated. Several passengers also took box wine out of the box and just packed the spouted bag. Those also made it onboard.

If you plan to purchase liquor in Ensenada, return to the ship with a large group or wait for a large tour group to return and to go through ship security with them. Security is in such a rush that they seldom catch your bottles. If the scanner sees them, they're too busy to escort you to the confiscating / check in table. I've walked onboard with liquor, scanner told me to check liquor in at table and been pointed to the table. With a crowded area, the table staff have no idea who has been sent to them so I just walked past the table and up the stairs with my bottles.

Default Thanks

Thank you all for your post. I will be leaving out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and I think there will be no problem, but I do think I will add a checked suitcase.

Thanks again,

And I can bring the really good booze I never drink which I already have at home-- instead of wasting more money in Miami to buy more liquor I don't really need.
What is the difference in paying for an extra bag checked vs. paying for the booze o board?

(Just realized this is responding to a post from 2 years ago... still a valid question, I think!)

This is a perfectly fine place for it, and the OP has gotten a good response. And another one here:

They work perfectly.
