Hi cruise critic users,
We are joining the 14 nights Panama canal cruise from L.A. to Miami be on the NCL Pearl. And this time, it will be our 1st time, cruising with our baby!
So I would be very happy about tips that we need to know on a cruise together with a baby. Any hints especially for the Pearl? Are there microwaves on board? Are the restrooms equipped with changing tables. Any helpful items we should bring along regarding our stateroom or generally on board with a little princess? We have booked a family balcony cabin.
Helpful Hints for the daily routine on board, regarding the baby?
for some friendly advice, packing hints, port and activity advice...
How old is your baby? We did our first cruise on the Pearl, with our then 15-month old. It was awesome. Staff are amazing. If you can splurge for the two bedroom family suite, you will be in heaven - as the little one will have their own room and you can shut the door and relax....
Bring lots of baby's favorite snacks and toys, double the amount of diapers-----a change of routine might bring on a change of digestion. An umbrella stroller, because corridors are narrow.
Also, a little inflatable pool for Baby. This way he can enjoy some water play, because unpotty trained children are not allowed in ships pools. The little pool can be placed in the shower for easy bathing.
Ask if the ship provided porta cribs or pack & plays.
We took a 4 yr old on a cruise, so maybe older than yours. He was old enough for kids club.
If your child like bubbles -- Bubbles/bubble machine -- quiet, clean, and entertaining.
Dry wipes to wet later on the ship (or if checking luggage, wet ones are fine)
Swim goggles/toys (someone recommended pail with shovel in it and can get packed with other stuff in the pail to not use too much space) for the ship or beach stops
We like little reading lights to read after the kids fall asleep.
Hand sanitizer (for the ports; there is no lack of it on the ships now)
Kid meds -- thermometer, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen.
Our dr recommended children's allergy machine (antihistamine) for motion sickness (but we did not need it to see how well it worked) but your child may not be old enough. Ask your dr.
ipod/dvd-video player/ds -- good for restaurant entertainment while waiting for food to come
Disposal bibs and table toppers (that stick down like chick-fil-a has)
If your child is older than 1 -- we used milk from the buffet (cereal milk) to fill the sippy cup. In the restaurants, the waitors will give bring and pour it in your sippy if requested.
